Ohh, baby!! Get ready!!
Something in my brain clicked and I have been pounding away at book 3. I ran through my second round of edits in one day because I was so excited to get it done.
In fact, I am SO excited that the first two chapters of Lost Brother will be posted – for patrons only – over on my Patreon page the second they are cleaned up.
Please note: You won’t really get what’s going on with the story unless you’ve read the first two books; links to my books on Amazon and Barnes and Noble are on the sidebar of this blog.
I am so PUMPED for this, I cannot even tell you. My beta reader (bless her heart as she endures my harassment) has told me how terrifying she finds this new threat and I can’t wait for you all to meet him.
The editing for Lost Brother (the third book in my First Brood series) had gone through its first round! There’s a ton to change around, add, and organize so don’t expect this anytime soon.
In the meantime, I have been catching up on my reviews and have some very interesting projects coming down the pipe. I’ve got at least two other series in development.
Aside for writing, I do have some needlework ready to go up in my shop and my decluttering efforts have been paying off! Over at my Patreon, one of the perks is that I would make videos but I had to clear away the space where I would make the videos. After some very cathartic purging, things are lookin pretty nice! 2017 is shaping up to be ok so far (aside for politics but the time to discuss that will come).
I will be honest, I didn’t do much writing during last week. Not only is it hard to write with my kiddo underfoot, I didn’t really want to. We had drawing time together but this was a rare chance to have uninhibited time with her and I took it. But the weekend! Ahh, the weekend.
I’d expected to babysit my nieces but it fell through and kiddo was at her dad’s. I had a free Saturday night… FREE!!!
Me being me, I was a selfish bitch and used my Saturday night to do nothing but write, write, take a nice bath, dye my hair, then write some more. And, holy gods, was it ever worth it! I was so jazzed, I continued into Sunday afternoon. I did another chapter of Lost Brother and did some amazing work with Old Soldier. What I really should have done was some typing but once I had that pen in my hand, I was FLYIN! And it was pure inspiration, not the determined scribbles of someone who refuses to let her page goal go unfulfilled. Those of you out there who create will get the difference. 😉
I love that feeling and I hope to keep it up. 🙂 Eventually, I will have to nut up and do some typing. I don’t want to end up with the daunting task of typing hundreds of pages rather than just 20 or so (and Old Soldier has been a rare, direct-to-computer project). But as long as my muse has this love affair with pen and paper, I’m going to write. And it feels GREAT!
Things have been going pretty well on the promotion front these days. It’s not much but I still see my writing as a way to make a decent sized side income. What is a trickle today may be a flood tomorrow so I’m not giving up. If anything, I’m working harder and being more diligent about meeting my goals and polishing my craft. One of the tools I picked up to help me out (because I’m concerned about copycats) is Grammarly’s online plagiarism and grammar tool because I’m awesome enough to do all this other stuff, but can’t remember how to properly use a comma to save my life.
This week I have finished one more chapter of First Brood 3 and picked at a few submission calls that I have floating around. My main focus has been to get my finances in order and get debt free. I’m a pretty responsible person so my credit debt is nil but I still have the car loan and the mortgage. Once my car loan is paid off, I can throw that money on the mortgage. 🙂 And of course the sales of my books go towards that, as well. (hint hint, nudge nudge)
Next week is Winter Break and being a good mama, I’ve taken my vacation with my daughter. I’ve got plans to get crafty so be prepared to laugh at my attempts to make homemade lip balm and teach my 6 year old to knit.
As of right now, I’m about halfway to my goal of 5 pages a day. Not bad at all I must say! 😀
The pages go as follows:
- 1.5 pages in Winter Boot
- 1 page Lost Brother
And I’ve made a significant dent in my read through of Flowers in the Attic as I am preparing another book vs movie comparison for the new special airing on the 18th. I remember watching the original as a kid and it was one of those childhood moments where you’re a little pissed at your parents for letting you watch it because it’s a bit scarring.
And the day’s not done yet! 😀 I plan to do as much as I can.
