#NYCC Baby!!

Despite the utter clusterfuck ordering was this year, my pro pass arrived and I got an email with the shipping information for the other passes I ordered. I am very relieved as the process was so convoluted, I wasn’t sure it worked.

To be honest, I won’t relax until I have them in my hands.

NYCC Wrap-up

Now that my blisters have healed and my muscles have recovered, I can finally post about how NYCC went.

NYCC was SWAMPED. Like “Lenni couldn’t get into her panels or hadda stand in the back because there were no seats” swamped. But I did it. I went and had a fabulous time.

Despite the record setting attendance, I would really… REEEEEELY appriciate it if NYCC brought back professional hours so I could actually make it to the panels I wanna see. They’re all educational anyway so I shouldn’t have had to battle to get in. Wall to wall people is the sign of a successful con but if I can’t get near vendors and authors to talk to them about getting their materials into the library, it’s a bust for ME professionally. Hopefully next year, they’ll bring them back.

Other than that, I only had issue trying to find Deadpool merchandise for my daughter. Deadpool is her favorite (obviously, I screen what she sees because, DEADPOOL) and she went dressed up as a mini Ladypool. She was the cutest damn Ladypool ever and of course, everyone wanted her picture. I am pretty convinced there wasn’t another little girl at that con dressed as Deadpool and I got some MAJOR Awesome Mom points. But I’ll be twice damned if I could find a shirt, hat, bracelet, ear rings, or anything wearable with any Deadpool on it in a kid’s size. One guy said it’s because they don’t really market Deadpool to kids but there’s a fuckton if Frank Miller Batmans, Wolverines, and such and they’re not exactly known for their pacifist, bloodless comics.

It got to the point where my daughter started to cry.

Granted, even the laziest Google search will turn up a glut of stuff (thank you, Etsy) but why not Deadpool? There were plenty of grown women who were Ladypool who would have loved a bracelet or dogtags or SOMETHING with Deadpool on it.

There’s a market here, people. Get on this.

In the end, one really nice woman who asked for a picture because my kid looked so awesome gave us a Deadpool postcard in plastic because the kiddo looked so upset (she is my hero now) but it shouldn’t have come to that. Yes, Deadpool is adult, but a lot of comics are and if Batman was the kiddo’s fav, I would have had my pick of accessories in her size.

What I’m saying is Marvel? Deadpool is awesome and girls like it, too. Can we have some cute stuff, too?

NYCC Day One

Once again, there were no professional hours so I hadda mash my way through the throng to get to my panels. I didn’t spend too much time on the floor since it was so packed but swag was attained and cool things/people were seen.

Now, I am beyond exhausted so I am gonna put my feet up and get some rest for tomorrow. This will be my first year to go all four days… Meep… ;___;

Comic Con Wrap Up

Yes, I am aware this is late but honestly, I was so wiped from the con then going right back to work. Hell, I still feel sore. ;_;100_0173

That pic pretty much sums it up. Me and the kiddo went and we kicked major ass. XD I am sadly(?) the proud owner of My Little Pony Monopoly but hey, could anyone say no to that face?

Ok, I wanted it, too. XD

I went as New 52 Wonder Woman and unless I was WITH my child, no one had a clue who I was. I got more pictures taken of me last year when I was a steampunkish Poison Ivy that was more boobs than fabric. :p I’ll have to keep that in mind for next year.

All in all, I had a fabulous time. Kiddo was well behaved and I didn’t spent too much money. I declare this to be the best year yet and I look forward to next year already! 😀

I’m a big kid now!

I do have to apologize for my lack of posts. I had my road test yesterday and that was at the forefront of my mind. I tried to get in a confident mindset but I was scared shitless. My hands were shaking by the time the test was over but I passed. 🙂 Not with flying colors (I hit the curb parallel parking) but I can drive all legal like now. ^_^

So what’s the first thing I do? Why, purchase a pirate decal for the back of my car of course! It’s my little black car that means my freedom so I named my car Pearl. Ahh, yes… The Black Pearl is indeed freedom. 🙂

I’ll be updating on comic con and writing and drawing, and basically everything over the week. Now that I don’t have to wait around for trains or someone to pick me up, a bunch of time frees up for me! 😀 YAY!!

Comic Con Swag: Day One

The first day of New York Comic Con went off without a hitch! 😀 I went to a couple panels on graphic novels in libraries then checked out the floor! Of course there was much swag to be had and Lenni does love her swag. Lets start with the swag I paid for:

Yes, that is a full set of Wet Moon by Ross Campbell. I got this series for the library and I’ve always wanted a set of my own! 😀 Of course there’s a pretty bound Lenore: Cooties by Roman Dirge because I didn’t have that one yet. That little box is steampunk soap with a key in it. XD I’ll post the brand when I locate the card for the place. The scent is amazing!

Now for the free swag!

I got posters, catalogs, post cards, press on nails, bracelets, and buttons. Man, if I can ever get my kid to behave, that Chibbi Moon poster is all hers. XD

Now, there are no pictures of me because I didn’t dress up. I’m saving my costume till Saturday when me and the family are ALL going dressed up. 🙂 That’s gonna be a marathon day for sure.

I’d go into more detail but holy crap, I’m tired. =_= Till tomorrow!! 😀

I’m BACK! >D

After a semi-restful weekend (how restful is a birthday party for a 3 year old, really?) I have traced the headache problems to lack of sleep and lack of sleep to the snoring of my dear ole’ hubbz. Short of kicking him out to sleep on the couch, I’m not gonna sleep well with him in the bed till he sees a doctor or I smother him with a pillow. Whichever comes first.

In writing news, the two small stories I’m working on are moving along well, Dark Horse enjoyed my last review, and I’m excited to start my Short Story Project next month instead of doing NaNoWriMo. Edits for book two are proceeding slowly but steadily and I hope for the preview chapters to be going up on the site soon. As soon as I have them all perfect and pristine, they’ll start going up. 🙂 Are you excited? I sure am. I’ve been picking at book two for YEARS now!

That’s all I’ve got so far. Eventually I’ll catch up with the Pagan Blog thing but probably not this week with Comic Con right around the corner. I would like to get through the whole thing, ya know?

New York Comic Con Here I Come… Maybe

Today, I was able to get my boss to spring for the professional pass for NYCC. If all goes well, me and Misfit Librarian will be going. But here’s the rub:

This year, you have to apply and we find out in 21 days IF we get to go.

To the person(s) who somehow gamed the system to score 4 day passes on the cheap, thanks for making the process harder for us. You suck. T_T

Other than that, I am excited to go. I toy with the idea of dressing up as Poison Ivy or my usual “Gonna have to carry a bunch of crap” uniform of jeans and an obnoxious t-shirt. Depends on what I feel like doing. :p

Will you be at the con this year?

Happy Columbus Day! Now, get the eff to work…

I proclaim today that for every person who calls us and asks us if we’re open today, I get ten bucks. T_T

Anyway, in the flurry that was this weekend, I did NOT get even half of what I wanted done finished. But seeing as how I can stand without feeling light headed or nauseous, I’m calling it a win.

I try to greet every Monday as a chance for a fresh start and aim to get to Friday with a list of accomplishments. On the list for this week is to get to Friday. >_< Ok, maybe it’s not THAT bad. XD

This week is NYCC, and I will be attending as a guest. I’m not such hot shit that I get a booth or have anyone know my name or anything… But I will be there this Thursday all day milling around and being one of the coolest librarians on the planet. 😉 I’ll make sure to take pictures of all the swag I get (free and non-free) and of actual famous people that I see.

Also, I will get back on the Wii now that I’m sure I won’t fall off the thing. I didn’t wanna risk it while I was sick. Either way, I’m healthy(-ish) and back in the saddle!
