Today’s Workout: Poor Brunswick…

wp-1682547799740

Well, this mission was kind of a downer. I won’t spoil it but yeah, was sad. Either way, I still managed to run the full 10 minute intervals without taking any extra breaks. I kept reminding myself that during lockdown, I was doing c210k and did 20 minute intervals so 10 shouldn’t be an issue and I shouldn’t give up. I’m not sure if I’ll do the 10k training again because the workouts are really fucking long as the you go through the plan and that was easy to do during lockdown because if I had a webinar or something, I could throw on my headphones and be on the treadmill at the same time. Between single mom things and my side hustle things, I don’t have time for workouts that are an hour or more. Maybe if more of my books are selling and my adsense goes up but for now, that’s not in the cards.

For lunch I did the beef and steamed veggies again. I think after I’m out of the ramen noodles, I won’t buy anymore to cut down on some carbs.

Dinner had to be lighter to balance out lunch. I still have some lamb left but I’ll eat that another day. That’s romaine, scallions, and avocado with tuna. I finally remembered to plant the butts of the veggies to grow my own and try and save some money. Lettuce of various types, onions, and scallions are the most popular in my house and it would be amazing for my budget to have them on hand in the garden containers. I would like to try some cucumbers and tomatoes but, we’ll see what I have time for.

Today’s Workout: New Recipe

wp-1680215956368

Since I had some salmon I wanted to eat, I was searching around for a recipe to also use some avocado along with it and found this recipe. Of course I find it at work while the salmon is defrosting at home so, the plan became to let the fish marinate while I was doing the above run. By the time I’d finished, cooled down, and taken a shower, the fish would be ready cook!

The soup was my lunch. And the smaller bowl is mine, the bigger one was for the kid.

Of course I had to put my own spin on it by adding chopped garlic to the top of the fish, some sliced onion, and Trader Joe’s Furikake seasoning. All non-sponsored links, of course. This meal was bowl-lickin good. I’ll have to prepare better in advance in the future but WOW. The salmon was perfect, the crunch of the cucumbers and onion was a perfect balance to the soft avocado (which is a sensory nightmare for me). I put some lime juice on the veggies and to keep the avocado from turning brown. I wasn’t getting sick of the usual steamed meat and veggies but I did want more variety in my meals, still be healthy, and not make too much work for myself. Things that require a lot of work to cook mean I’m doing that instead of running on the treadmill. If I prep properly ahead of time, I’ll be able to add more healthy meals to my rotation.

Today’s Workout: Back to it!

wp-1679958707608

I’m back to C25K and Zombies Run and it felt pretty good! I felt a little cramping but I think that’s from taking that week off to do the peddler. My form felt strong, my breathing was fine; all in all an excellent run. Good start to the week.

Lunch was the usual but I ended up using whatever was left of the beef because I could tell it wasn’t going to last another day in the fridge. As a result, I ended up just having a little snack for dinner because I just wasn’t hungry. Unfortunately, I completely forgot about the abs app but I’ll try to remember for the rest of the week.

Today’s Workout: Don’t Hurt Sam!!!

Yeah, part of the reason why I like running with this app so much is I am so invested in the story and strangely protective of Sam. I bet a lot of users love Sam and he should be protected at all costs. But to be on topic, this run was a little hard. I had more soreness than normal; which is to be expected given it’s that time of the month. Everything hurts more. I just power through it.

For lunch I didn’t have a chance to prep but I had some soup available. Dinner was a salad with tuna and I will admit, I think I ate too much. I was struggling to finish it. I had plenty of steps during the day, too. I had to get my taxes done so I was home earlier to do my run, eat dinner, and had plenty of time to wind down. Too bad I can’t leave early every day.

Today’s Workout: Temptation

I am so glad I picked up running again because out of the blue, the kid decides we need to buy pizza and I needed to burn that off. The rest of what I ate today was my normal type of lunch:

And over the weekend, I made an amazing sandwich:

I marinated the chicken in olive oil, lemon juice, and lemon pepper seasoning and just cooked it in a frying pan. I diced up red onion and mixed it with avocado (and more lemon juice) and as you can see, I had a bunch of cherry tomatoes that I needed to finish before they went bad. I had those as a side instead of chips. I still haven’t mastered what is apparently a daunting task of building a sandwich in a way that doesn’t fall apart if you look at it funny but even though it was a mess to eat, it was delicious. I think I would use a whole chicken breast next time instead of strips so there’s less chances of something falling out.

Over the weekend, I didn’t workout. I had overtime and I had to take apart the dryer hose to fix a blockage. That was not fun. I wasn’t really in the mood after dealing with that.

I Did It: Zombies Run! Virtual Race 2017.

pic

I post a lot of stuff on Instagram that doesn’t get posted here (and visa versa) so if you have been viewing my activity there, you may have noticed I have been posting my workouts. I got into running and found that not only do I enjoy it, I’m not half bad at it for a big chick. Since I started; I’ve been able to go from taking 40 minutes to do a mile to my best time of 14:55 to do a mile.

I don’t know what it is in my brain but on my bucket list is to run a 5k; even back when I hated running. But the logistics of registering for a race, getting to the race, parking, getting home, or even making sure I don’t have work and all that stuff seemed like a nightmare.

Then I discovered Virtual Races.

The gist of that is, you log in (in this case, into the Zombies Run! app), switch on your GPS, and run wherever you want. You even get a shirt tag and a medal for the race! Seeing as how I’ve been using this app for awhile, I decided to go for it. I signed up for the race on April 8th.

And you all get to hear about me training, you lucky ducks…

If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile, you are already familiar with the fact I’m no skinny person. Currently, I’m 210 lbs and I lost weight to get there. I’ve had shitty knees and ankles for most of my life because I was always a pretty active person and I’ve torn, sprained, and strained them several times. Despite this, I not only started running, but kept at it.

I started my training and right now it takes me 40 minutes to do 2.11 miles if I walk the first mile (at 3 mph) and walk/run the second mile (running at 4 mph). I am slowly working my way up to the full 5 km (which is 3.1 miles).

I am pumped and TERRIFIED to finally attempt this. I know if I fail, I’ll be crushed. I have surprisingly found many people online who are plus size and do enjoy running so I don’t feel as self-conscious as I thought I would. I even roped my kid into doing this with me.

To hold myself accountable, I’ll be posting my progress. I really hope I can do this…
