Elizabeth, Keisuke, and Keiji are still searching for the Righteous Master to save Keizan while being pursued by a demon who wants to capture them.

This volume has some great lore as we finally get to meet the Righteous Master, and the demon hunting them gives us some fun action scenes. This is also a far more serious installment with only tiny bits of humor. The focus is on the brothers and more information about Righteous Eggs. I can feel the impending training arc coming up, but that’s still fun to see. You almost forget this is the demon fighting chickens series since it’s a good story. 3.7 out of 5.

Chicken Little may have saved Morio, but now she’s possessed and decides it’s not safe for her to be with the group. Without her, they must tend to the fading Righteous Egg inside Keiji’s father.

So, Morio and Chicken Little are on one adventure, while Keiji, Keisuke, and Elizabeth are on another. The Chicken Little story is silly, but I can see what they’re trying to do: giving the reader a bit of a break while the others deal with the bigger threats. In the end, this is about chickens with special abilities fighting demons, so it can’t be serious all the time. However, this is a lot of setup for upcoming events. 3 out of 5.

As Elizabeth searches for Keijii and Keisuke’s father, the brothers deal with the monster, Hikari, who’s goal is to goad Keiji into using The Righteous Egg and awaken powers that may destroy him.

The White Demon is behind all this and as to what he wants with Keiji, we’ll have to see. The Battle was well done and what was inflicted on Hikari was just monstrous; no pun intended. There are some silly pits but this volume brings the seriousness through the silly concept of super-powered chickens fighting demons; which is what made me love this series in the first place. 4 out of 5.

Keiji and his brother, Keisuke are struggling in their battle with a powerful demon in the hopes to get their father back.

I’m kinda surprised the fight to get their father back has taken this long. Granted, there have been several other stories happening: the little chick’s story, Elizabeth’s story, and – in this volume – Keisuke’s back story. It’s not a complaint since I am interested and enjoying it. Just something I noticed since other conflicts felt like they were resolved faster.

Other than that, the action in this is really fun. I wish they would give Elizabeth more to do just because I think she’s cool but that’s not a glaring problem either. This is still a wild concept that revels in the ridiculousness of it. 4 out of 5.

With the demon Morio going berserk and Keiji’s father captured, Keiji and his brother head off to rescue them. Also, Elizabeth’s human father makes an appearance.

So, with this volume, we get even more powerful demons and apparently Elizabeth’s father with this huge organization that makes weaponry that fights them? We’re getting bits of world-building and even though the overall concept of a demon fighting chicken is silly on the surface, this is really interesting. 4 out of 5.

After preventing a town from being flooded, Keiji faces a more frustrating conflict; a group date with pigeons. Keiji and his friends are also being followed by a strange woman and Keiji’s brother, Keisuke, is introduced as he begs Keiji for his help rescuing their father from a powerful new foe.

I honestly didn’t expect this series to get this interesting since the previous volumes were so zany. But with more lore and the increased threat, this volume is very entertaining. There’s nothing wrong with zany, I enjoyed it, but it’s nice to see this series get serious. Zany can only carry you so far. 4 out of 5.

Keiji is reluctantly famous after a video of him defeating a demon and all he wants is respite from people trying to catch him or constantly taking pictures. He finds an arcade where he meets a demon who, unlike the others, doesn’t want to fight.

This volume has a little drama and levity but it has some awesome action. Not only do we see more powers from Keiji but there’s a new angle if there’s demons who just exist and don’t hurt anyone. I bet there are others like that around and maybe Keiji’s group will get bigger. We didn’t get much closer to Keiji’s end goal about his sister but this was a great book. 4.8 out of 5.

As he continues in his journey, Keiji encounters a young chick who sees him as a hero and his ex, Elizabeth. Despite Keiji’s loner nature, these two join him on his quest.

I have to comment on the creature design. The enemies are fantastic, insanely creepy and detailed. The addition of Elizabeth is great. She’s smart, funny, and gives Keiji a way to be understood by humans. This story is just wild madness but it’s good! Especially for such an off the wall concept, but it somehow works to be entertaining. 3.9 out of 5.

Lethal demons are plaguing humanity but a single rooster with impossible strength is on a mission to defeat them and avenge his sister.

First off, there’s more bird sex in this than I expected or really needed. Just… Why?

Other than that… This is certainly a thing that happened. And I mean that in the best way. It’s a silly premise that manages to work since it’s played straight. You have the classic ronin character traveling around killing demons due to a personal grudge only the ronin in question is a rooster. It’s wacky, absurd, and I kinda love it. What a great ride if you just let the crazy happen and have fun! 4 out of 5.
