As her office experiments with remote work, Riko is dealing with the challenge of trying to get things done while dealing with two energetic cats.

While it is still cute that Riko likens gaming to learning about her cats, I am also loving how wide her gaming interests are. She plays EVERYTHING. Mobile, RPG, shooters, slots, rhythm; it’s so cool! I wish I had time for that. I don’t even wanna think about how many games I own that I don’t have time to play. Of course, the cats are adorable as usual, getting into all kinds of trouble. Plus my own cat rubbed her face all over this book, so it’s clearly great. 4 out of 5.

In this volume, Riko:

  • Tries out an automatic cat feeder
  • Has a photo of her cats go viral
  • The cats destroy the toilet paper
  • Learns what “chattering” is
  • Has her cats racing around just like in one of her games
  • Forgets her birthday because of a game release
  • Deals with heavy shedding

There are of course fun antics in this volume but the one thing that stood out to me is when Riko realizes it’s her 30th birthday. There’s no freakout, no meltdown about not being married yet or having kids; it just adds to the enjoyment of her new game and she’s fine! She spent her birthday exactly how she’d enjoy it the most and that’s so damn wholesome. Riko is just precious and her adventures with her pets are fun and calming to read. 4 out of 5.

Obayashi comes over for a visit and suggests that Riko get another cat to keep Musubi company. But has Riko leveled up enough to handle another cat and will they even get along?

This volume dives into some instructional information about how to introduce cats to each other but it’s done in a fun way. We get so much more of Musubi’s inner thoughts and with Soboro added to the cast, we have both cats in their new situation. They are funny and cute, basically everything we’ve come to expect from this series but if you were in this for the humans, they’re not as much of a focus. 4 out of 5.

As Riko gets better at taking care of her cat, Musubi, she still has retained her love of gaming. When she gets a new game, she struggles to fit in time with that as well as work, rest, and Musubi’s nighttime zoomies.

Of course the kitten is precious but this volume feels more slice of live than the others, dealing with clipping Musubi’s nails, giving him a bath, and things like that. It’s cute to see a bit of Musubi’s perspective on things; especially when he’s gaming with Riko and trying to climb on things. They’re both settling in and Riko is learning about taking care of him while still doing what she loves. 3.9 out of 5.

In the continuing misadventures of Riko she runs afoul of the typical trap of attaining a new pet: spending way too much on toys.

In this volume, we also meet Riko’s sister, Mai, who is obsessed with social media so Riko gives her cat an account. Riko gets to meet other pet owners and gets to know her cat much better. Manga like these are the ultimate comfort read. Riko is just enjoying her companion and learning about what it’s like to care for a cat on a day to day basis. It’s just wholesome, cute, and fun to read. 4 out of 5.

Riko Kozakura doesn’t socialize with anyone at work, preferring to take care of her duties and go straight home to game. When a security guard at the office finds a stray kitten, she is compelled to take him home. But she doesn’t know anything about cats so she must level up her pet owner skills.

This is another cute cat slice of life manga with the hook of a gamer for an owner. It’s unique that Riko sees learning about her new friend as leveling up a character like in her RPGs. She clearly cares for him so it’s not her brain disconnecting to her gamer space, it’s leveraging her interests to focus her energy. Just adorable. 4.5 out of 5.
