“Weekly” Writing Update: Well, fuck…

When my friend was diagnosed and ended up in a care home, I volunteered to take care of the dog she left behind. Now… While this dog hates my guts, I’ve done my best to take care of her. She’s got digestive issues that require prescription food and teeth issues that will need to be addressed and OOF. I was not expecting the bills. Holy shit…

Since I won’t be getting any overtime until September (expect me to complain a LOT about being tired because I took any available OT day I could get), I’ll be pushing to get more words out and get more stories published. Here’s the word counts I’m up to today:

  • Smut: 5,126
  • Dewey: 12,369

I’m not here to beg sympathy, I’m here to bitch a little and share my plans. I’m not going to let this mess with the quality of my work, either. The smutty stuff may be mid-tier stuff I shill for money but my longer stuff means a lot to me. I’ll also be blogging more reviews. I have so many books I’ve read and need to read that I’m sure I’ll have plenty of content for this blog. Wish me luck.

Writing Update: It’s live! Fruit of the Dead: Season 1 Episode 3

The latest episode of this series is out!

“In part three of this series, our four lost souls face a ruthless Courier that pushes their abilities to the limit.* *Note, this story contains themes of abuse, suicide, prostitution, depression, and other mature themes. Trigger and content warnings apply”

Click here and select your preferred retailer. D2D is still working on some of them so, please check back. I didn’t want to wait on announcing it since I’m slow enough with writing updates as is.

Writing Update: New Cover

The help desk didn’t get back to me about being able to edit the old cover so now the first part of Fruit of the Dead has a new cover. I was hoping that each season would have a different cover but ah well. In terms of problems, this isn’t a big deal. Now, as for the word counts:

  • FotD S1E3: 2443 but I’m not happy with how it flows so this may change
  • Dewey: 10,441 and I’m posting this in the middle of the day ,and I bet I’ll end up with more later

Also, due to a lovely surprise $4,000 bill that I didn’t think I needed to pay, I will be putting more time into my S00PER SEEKRIT smutty pen name because as much as I love to write fantasy, the smut is what makes me any money at all every month. I will do my best to ensure this does not delay my progress on my non-smut projects.

Last writing update for April 2025

It’s been a nutty week and my numbers aren’t the best. I ended up down to the wire on a bunch of ARCs I’d downloaded so, reviewing those took a bunch of my free time. Expect a bunch of reviews to be posted soon. I’m also posting in the afternoon and may have som time later to keep working but I wanted to get the blog updated before I either forgot or fell asleep while writing. It’s happened before.

  1. First Brood 4: Emma – 16823 words
  2. Dewey – 9565 words
  3. Fruit of the Dead S1E3 – 860 words

Not much in the way of work on Emma’s book but I’m pushing to get the other two done faster because FotD has been sitting without an update for years and since it’s episodic, it feels like a waste to leave it hanging. I’m hoping to balance my time better next week and have more of an output; especially since there’s no overtime for me until next month.

Weekly writing updates? Let’s try.

I have been working on three projects right now so, let’s do a quick status update:

  1. First Brood 4: Emma – 16823 words
  2. Dewey – 9300 words
  3. Fruit of the Dead S1E3 – 223 words

Fruit of the Dead should cap at about 3000 words. I’d like to keep each installment short as I build the story. No clue how long the others will end up. I tend to bounce between these three. I may be working on one then have a brain wave for another one and I just go with it. Hopefully FotD will be finished this month but, we’ll see. I may hit my stride with the others so, I’m not making any promises. If you’d like a teaser for the first two, check out my Patreon. The first chapters are posted there for free.

Patreon Pause

As I do not have any supporters here, I will not be posting any further updates to these stories to my Patreon. Once I get some followers, I’ll resume again. This doesn’t mean I won’t keep working on these stories and I’ll of course keep this blog updated with my progress but, it’s not worth stressing out making posts nobody reads. If this changes, I’ll let ya’ll know!

Patreon Updated!! First Brood 4: Emma Chapter 6

Part of my 2025 goals is to keep my Patreon updated at least monthly, so here is the update for January! Chapter 1 of this story is still available for free, but every chapter after that is for paid members. Click here for the update!

Writing Update! Plans going forward.

So, since my money situation is not good, I am going to be releasing my next book in chapters as I finish them on my Patreon under the $5 membership tier. I am aiming for one chapter a month that’s as polished as I can make it. Be aware, this book is in progress. Once I finally release the completed book, things may be reorganized and absolutely will be re-edited. It’s been awhile since I continued my first series and I’m actually excited to get back to it!

I’m also still working on that dystopian librarian story and brainstorming some ideas for the Djinn, Fruit of the Dead, Go Away Girls, and Gods in the Grey City series. Sometimes it surprises me how many series I have going right now… These are also all available here on my blog if you want to check them out.

Yes, this is ambitious considering I work full time, overtime, looking into remote part time work, and still reviewing books all the while with a teenager but it’s clear that just one job isn’t going to keep a roof over our heads. I’m gonna have to push myself to write as much as possible. Hopefully, you all enjoy it!

Camp NaNoWriMo Day 18 and Workouts

As you can see, I am still behind and I’m ok with that. See, over the weekend, I went to have dinner with friends and people kept asking me if I was ok. Earlier last week, I had a coworker ask me if they’d done something to make me mad since I was so quiet. When I looked at myself closely in the mirror, I looked dead on my feet; just tired and sullen.

I need to take better care of myself. I’ve been up very late and not getting enough sleep. I haven’t even been cooking much because cooking takes writing time.

I did manage to make a few things but mostly, I’ve been living on snacks and leftovers. I look angry all the time and yeeeaaahhh, that’s not good.

So, this week I’m writing at a leisurely pace and stopping at a decent hour to get some sleep. I don’t even think I’ll hit 50k words just because the story doesn’t need it. I’m gonna chill the hell out and enjoy this process.

I took a walk to get some broccoli to make a real dinner and did my desk peddler. Once I got home, I used all my workout apps; including the sleepytime stretching to wind down and sleep soundly. Today I feel more normal but breaking the grindset mode is gonna take a while.

Camp NaNoWriMo Day 5

wp-1657074571381

I am behind in my word count but today flowed so well towards the end. I’m gonna be tired in the morning but so worth it.

Tomorrow, I’ll try to get 2k words in over the course of the day instead of trying to squeeze it all in before I go to sleep. Work was busy so, I did have to wait till I get home.

Honestly, I should be doing 2k a day normally so I can get stories published faster. There’s a book I got about finishing a book in a week. I don’t have time to sit and read it now but I’ll share my thoughts in it when I get the chance.
