WIP Wednesday: Kitchen Sink and Patreon Update!

I’ve been behind, so this update is a bit of everything:

I figured that doing these long runs back to back may feel like something that productive but will likely not be effective. So, I took a break and had a nice walk to break things up. These runs are getting easier and I don’t wanna fuck it up by overdoing it and hurting myself. Also, I feel WIPED after those long runs. My body hits a wall around 4-6PM and all I wanna do is sleep. I’m taking that as a sign my body needs the recovery.

There are different tomatoes growing in my hard now! No clue how but I’m not about to question free food in this economy. And it’s just nice to pick things out of the yard and put them in a nice salad. But sometimes, salad doesn’t cut it. It’s fall, I feel the cooler weather, and out comes the slow cooker! That chili is ground beef and elk with some delicious chips as a side. Sometimes you eat something and it just heals your soul. I have a good sized batch of this, so it’ll be on repeat and I’ll freeze some for days when I need something quick.

As for writing, I released another erotica short under the other penname and updated my Patreon with the start of the “There, I Fixed It” series! It’ll have it’s own category on there and once it’s complete, I think I’ll offer it for free on my blog. I did do some lazy Googling about the copyright and the stupid AI that won’t let me turn it off said that what I’m doing is original enough to probably not get sued, but I’d rather not risk it by charging for it. Putting it for free will give anyone interested a chance to have the entire thing in one go rather than go through the Patreon posts once it’s finished. Or maybe, if I can figure out how it works, I’ll do an optional tip deal through Buy Me A Coffee or something. I would like to finish it, run through some editing, then release it in one go. As far as I’m concerned, the Patreon posts are clean drafts but not final drafts, if that makes any sense. But perhaps I’m getting ahead of myself. I should actually finish something instead of starting something new before I start pondering how I’m going to deal with the finished product. Hopefully, I can blast through my word goals over the next couple days.

Workout Catch Up: They make me eepy…

While these longer runs are getting easier, they make me so sleepy. I opted to repeat week one in Just Run to make sure I can get through the intervals without a break and yes, it’s working. But if I do these runs first thing in the morning, I crash before the end of the day. By the time I have to cook dinner, my eyes are at half mast. I did a run on Saturday, fully intending to run again on Sunday before I went to work, but I slept through my alarm because my body went “Nah, you’re resting. End of discussion.” Maybe running daily will help my screwed up sleep schedule…

Since I’ve been working so hard, I’ve been stressing protein in my meals. That’s a chicken Caesar wrap and a bison burger with homemade fries. My son wanted to try one and I figured it’d be a nice new experience for him and a treat for me. Other than that, it’s been the usual stuff or very small snacks. I have extra time this week, clearly. If I ever learn to roll a wrap properly, I’ll probably be eating those all the time but that was a pick up order. It’s heading into crockpot season and I can’t wait to start making chili and stew again. All in all, I’m sure earlier on in the day, I had something super profound to say but now my brain is mush and I need to be in bed. Tomorrow I’d like to post the first “There I Fixed It” part to my Patreon and for that, I need my two brain cells to be on the same page.

Workout Dump: New Missions!

I needed a break from running for almost an hour on Sunday, so I did some walking and the Wirk peddler up till today. It was still rough going, but I was able to hold my pace well. My form, not so much. I need to work on that. And I got the chance to get into the new missions on Zombies Run! It still sucks that the original Abel is gone… But as for my actual fitness, these long runs are a bitch to be motivated to do. Once I get on the treadmill, it’s fine. It also gives me a chance to catch up on my very long list of things I wanna watch.

Sadly, the Hello Kitty collab is done, so now I go back to not even thinking of McDonald’s as an option for food. But I seem to be all about the sandwiches lately. If I ever save up enough money for a new oven, I’ll be baking my own bread instead of buying it. I love to play around with flavors, and it’s cheaper! Win-win! Not that I should be having a lot of carbs anyway. I’m not the type of person to demonize carbs, but I do need to keep them under control if I want to lose more weight. Making more things at home puts more control in my hands. I can literally make half a loaf or a couple of buns instead of buying expensive bread from the store and feeling pressured to use it all up before it grows fur. And even though I’m tired after work and overtime and all my side stuff, I do enjoy baking! I make little gift bags of Pagan cookies for the Solstice for my friends and everyone at work nearly every year. I think I’m doing pretty good overall. It’s been a long week.

Workout Dump: Weekend Warrior

Since I’m trying to get these side gigs to make enough money to dig me out of the hole I’m in, I’ve been sticking to shorter workouts during the week and longer ones on the weekends. I’m also back to the desk peddler. It was amazing to make it through that long run even if I had to powerwalk for the last interval. It reminds me that I can physically do these workouts; it’s just hard to find the time.

I’ve been leaving out the ramen noodles from my daily lunches. And it’s really easy to batch cook rice and portion it out for meals for the rest of the week. I did get takeout once, but it lasted me 3 meals. Not bad considering how much it is to order out these days. Most of the time, I’ve been making do with whatever is in the house, which explains meals that are simply rice and a protein. I don’t mind it much. It makes things easy when I’m exhausted and don’t want to cook when I get home. I can tell this is making some good changes. I’m not as hungry, things are timed well around what I need to do every day, and I use fewer dishes! Wins all around.

Workout Dump: Busy, busy!!

This isn’t all my workouts since I’m in the process of getting things ready for my son’s surgery. It was very sudden; someone apparently cancelled, and they offered him the spot! I am very nervous and excited for him. I know he’s been waiting for this for years, and it means a lot of preparation for the post-surgery recovery and running around to pre-surgery appointments. I’m still doing the desk peddler whenever I can, and I’m counting moving furniture as a workout.

Those pickled red onions are still a fun addition, but now, they’re joined by some garlic scape chimichuri. I had some pork chops to throw in the air fryer, which was a great dinner. I usually end up with a dry, inedible mess when I try to make pork chops. I dunno how my Gramma did it… Either way, it was a success. I didn’t want to use heavy sauce and didn’t want to waste garlic scapes, that’s where the chimichuri came in. It has a kick to it (it’s garlic scapes, yellow onion, and garlic in olive oil and red wine vinegar). Whatever I’m doing is working because I am down to 206! I honestly don’t think it’s the food. I think it’s getting back into being active.

Today’s Workout: Getting back to normal

I really hope I’m not jinxing myself when I say I’m getting back into running very slowly. Believe it or not, you’re not supposed to do strenuous workouts the first week after a tooth extraction because the increased blood flow could knock out the blood clot from the wound. The human body is such a disgusting miracle… I was taking it very easy. I don’t want to mess up and have to stop again. I do feel pretty good, even after moving a couch out of the house and to the curb. The thing was disgusting. So glad it’s finally gone.

Since I can eat normal food again (as long as I chew on the opposite side of the wound), I am sticking with thin-sliced or ground meat, steaming the vegetables a little longer than I’d like, and chopping the lettuce thin for salads. The infection is completely gone, and I’m almost done with my antibiotics. I am sincerely hoping this means my luck is turning around. I just need a couple months of normalcy, for fucks sakes…

I also got to try those viral Chloe’s Giant Cookies. They’re really good! Each one is six servings at 130-140 calories per serving. I tried the Lemon, Lava Cake, and Red Velvet and while it will probably take me forever to finish these, I wouldn’t mind getting more! I have other flavors on the way (Chocolate Chip and Cookies and Cream) and I’ll let you know if they’re any good.

Workout Dump: Back to work

I’m easing my way back into running and just being more active in general. I didn’t work out today because I shoveled snow, but it feels good to get back into the thick of it. A bit painful, but it’s worth it.

I’ve been changing up my foods to try and get more iron in my diet. And my kid LOVES the pasta, spinach, and sun-dried tomatoes. Of course, with enough garlic to ward off vampires the next county over. I switched from batch cooking one day to cooking more often during the week and using different vegetables. Yes, I’m eating more carbs, I’ll just have to compensate by working out like I have been. Carbs aren’t the enemy anyway. They’re running fuel.

Workout Dump: Season One Complete!

Now, you may be saying: “Lenni, you already finished season 1 years ago!” And you are correct! These workouts were finishing all the season one Radio Abel clips. With some 5k trainer thrown in there. After NYCC, I kept up with some very easy walking workouts and I think it actually helped me recover faster! Moving more in general is good and the scale is inching in the right direction again. I’m also doing my crunches and upped the number of wall pushups. Kinda like my writing, bit by bit progress is being made.

I got some boneless chicken thighs on sale and made a whole batch of buttermilk fried chicken for me and my kid to eat during the week. For the first time, I had it over a bed of Napa cabbage and onion with lemon juice, olive oil, and lemon pepper on it. It was actually quite refreshing! I scored more of that amazing focaccia bread from the farmer’s market for sandwiches (yes, that is a book bento box), and I’m eating more types of vegetables. Sometimes, I have the energy to stand there and chop peppers, sometimes it’s lightly sauced steamed in the microwave vegetables. Lately, my calories have been over 1000 a day but I am totally ok with that if I’m active and it’s not junk food. I’m back on the Saxenda on a low dose. I don’t feel overfull and I think my nails are growing back attached. I’m super excited about that.

Workout Dump: It’s that time of year again

NYCC is fast approaching and that means a TON of walking. I’ve scaled back to walking and desk peddler workouts in anticipation of that. NYCC is the only time of year where I get more than 10k steps a day multiple days in a row. I’m already tired I can feel it.

My food hasn’t changed up much, but I’m enjoying varying my protein and vegetables. This is a boring entry… Really, nothing of note to report. Stay safe out there, I guess? See ya’ll after the con!

Workout Dump: Longer Workouts and Adjustments

I finished the pirate missions and now I’m working through this spirit quest like one? It’s really interesting! I can’t always run but then I walk; trying to get in at least 40 minutes when there’s space in my schedule. Overtime hours are available again and instead of sleeping in longer, I get up and work out before I go in. I even managed to destroy the seam on another pair of running pants. Odd that I take that as a win… But I’ve also noticed more loose skin on my thighs even if the scale hasn’t moved as much as I’d like.

After the big clean out for the new fridge, I have been trying to use up more of the stuff I had in the freezer. It may be odd to be thinking “Gosh, I gotta eat all this bacon” because it’s on auto ship with my Butcher Box order (free bacon for life, baby) but I kept not eating it since it’s unhealthy. Then it just built up. BLT salads are a great way for me to get protein with my salads while taking a break from tuna. With grocery prices the way they are, I only buy things on sale and the bacon I have in the house is better for my wallet than going out to buy full-price tuna. And since I’m militant about calorie counting, I still log everything to make sure I’m in a calorie deficit, drink plenty of water, and try to keep averaging 7k steps a day. And honestly, even the piddly 20 wall pushups, 100 crunches, and 100 squats are making a difference. I have noticed I am stronger. I don’t get winded as quickly, I can pick up heavier things, and stuff I normally could lift, I can hold longer. This is not to say that moving large things like a mini fridge doesn’t result in muscle pain (I keep my Saxenda in a small fridge in my room, and I got a new one that has a self-defrost) but I did it. I did it all by myself. I do need to chill on the carbs more, though. And up my protein. I’m slowly building muscle and I want to keep that train rolling.
