Side Biz Status Update!

One of my yearly/life goals is stash busting and I’ve made some decent progress in that regard. These two items have been added to my shop! I have a lot more to go but I’m making some decent headway. My last round of decluttering unearthed even more damn yarn but I am not deterred. I will make things out of all the yarn I’ve bought and do my best to sell them. I know they’re some very simple designs but, I’m going for speed. And I have some interesting yarn types that I’m not sure what to do with. What comes out of it will be interesting.

As for my writing, here are the current word counts for my WIPs:

  • First Brood 4 Emma: 16,823 words
  • Dewey: 9,210 words

I’m making okay progress on these but I’m gonna spend some time outlining the rest of the plot for these two. I always start out thinking I totally can wing it for the rest of the manuscript but nah. If I want both of these done before the end of the year, I’m gonna have to be more organized. I’d like to continue my Fruit of the Dead series and that will ABSOLUTELY need a proper outline to make sure the episodes make sense. My goal is to have a wide variety of genres for people to read. And to get out of debt by finally making these things profitable.

Another NYCC in the books

I have to say, outside the panels, this was the most crowded and unpleasant it’s been in years. Just hot, sweaty, and tiring. But the educator panels were amazing this year. It was worth that alone.

I am exhausted and a little sad that nobody guessed my cosplay. I was supposed to be Susan from Hazbin Hotel but only one person made a guess and it was Yzma… At least I get a cool shirt out of it? Because I could totally put in that my rotation of work clothes. I even made that dead fox wrap she has! *sigh* Ah well… Maybe I’ll pick something super obvious for next year.

Today’s “Workout” : NYCC Day One

wp-17292031511661964153625081779723

The first day is always the step heavy day. It’s Educator’s Day so, there’s plenty of panels I have to go to. I also forgot my water bottle at one of the panels and had to run back to it, two floors up, to get it back. You may think that’s an ordeal to bother with but my water bottle is a Cupple with a Nuvoe in it. That’s an expensive bottle to replace.

Not sponsored, by the way.

Today’s pictures aren’t all that interesting. I went to several panels but Ask a Comics Librarian was the only one that had a decent picture for me to grab. I am excited for the Little Nightmares game. I love the lore of this game even though I suck at playing games

I didn’t dress up. This was my comfy “professional” day. Tomorrow will be interesting, considering I’m already sore and exhausted. Now, I have to finish the prop I should have finished MONTHS ago tonight…

Workout and Food Catch Up.

I’m still sticking with the desk peddler these days because I can do other things while doing it and I’m trying to get my thigh muscles to grow. I have lost a few more pounds (back down to 210) and that means lose skin in places. Since I am broke and will likely never get skin surgically removed, I’ll have to fill in the gaps with muscles.

That pasta sauce is made with diced up summer squash and zucchini because I get so damn many of them in my CSA box, it’s impossible for me to eat in my usual way, which is the other picture. That’s sliced and steamed with some asparagus risotto that I will not even pretend I made myself. It’s frozen from Trader Joe’s and reheated in my Itaki box. Steaming to reheat things is so much better than the microwave. I really like it and I’m tempted to get the Itaki pot to reheat things like the pasta. Also, I made a HUGE pot of that sauce and I’m so glad it turned out good. I froze the rest to use later but I’m gonna have to come up with another way to use these veggies up if I keep getting so many of them every week. There’s only so much pasta I can eat.

Yes, I already thought of making bread. And chips. I’ll have to see about that because I am trying not to use the oven during the summer.

Today’s Workout: Challenge Day 3

wp-17152075832327062099594853859966

When I tell you I hadda make sure I didn’t talk myself out of working out today by walking into the house and getting right into my workout clothes. I am so sore and crampy… I seriously hope once my period is over for this month, my muscles can feel sore for the right reasons.

I completely forgot breakfast and coffee this morning but I managed to muddle through. I ate the last of the salmon and potatoes I made for lunch and a BLT salad for dinner. I was so excited to have half an avocado in there but the ones I got on Monday that were like rocks were already rotten by today. Not happy about that waste but I tossed it in the yard so at least maybe some neighborhood critter can take advantage of it instead of it ending up in a landfill. I just needed something different from tuna or chicken on a salad for a change and I’m trying to clean out my current fridge as I save up for a new one. It’s making a funny noise and I’d like to get ahead of the problem.

And Goggle fit is on some BS right now removing and reinstating my steps. I have enough anxiety, Google; I don’t need your help.

Happy New Year! 2024 Goals

Ah, another year, another batch of things I hope to get done but will probably have no time to do so. I did make some decent progress on goals last year so, my plans for this year are:

  • Keep publishing short stories and make more money
  • Keep up with the blog better
  • Keep organizing and clearing clutter
  • Keep working on my stash yarn
  • Do more weight training

I’m not entirely satisfied with 2023 but I think it was far from a failure. I had a bunch of unexpected repairs turn my finances into a disaster but I think if I can keep up writing, needlework, and selling stuff off to clear out my home, I can get out of this hole. Here’s to a more successful year.

NYCC 2023 Recap

Once again, I managed to make it through all four days of the con. I’m in the last picture as Loona and my kid is the bleach eyes guy from Call of Duty. Not many people recognized who I was but it was really cool when they did.

While I did cosplay, I was there for work. I found it both cool and sad that there was so many panels and discussions around book bans and challenges. On the upside, this means that for all the noise, there are more people against bans than for them and the respect for librarians and educators deal with all this is clear. It can feel like our job is thankless sometimes and it was so nice to hear that there are at least some people out there that have our backs.

I did manage not to spend a ton of money; which is good since I’m stretched to the limit these days. But, I am pumped and redoubling my efforts to put out tons more content and goods!

Today’s Workout: Dragging

wp-1695782132221

It feels silly to keep stopping short of a full hour but it was still a good workout. I zoned out during it, honestly. I am so tired.

Seeing as it’s PMS time, my sleep is all fucked up. Mornings are not the best in terms of prepping things. Breakfast has to be quick and easy since it’s so hard to get up and get going. Lunch was my usual and I was so tired towards dinner, I just heated up some leftover fries from the last time I ordered out. And even that seemed like a lot of work. As much as I love cooking, I just don’t have the energy for it all the time.

Today’s Workout: A break?

wp-1678388231052

I missed last night’s workout because my kid needed me. We had a long talk which took up  my running time but it’s completely fine. It’s hard enough being a teenager, much less a trans teenager and I’m glad my kid can come to me if they need to. I “made up” for it today with the desk pedler.

These were the prepped meals for the last couple days, except for the popcorn. And that big bowl lasted three sittings. The Saxenda won’t let me eat so much. I used some of the seasoning packets from the ramen to season the popcorn.

Since the weekend is approaching, I’ll be switching to body weight workouts then starting cardio again on Monday. Part of me is looking forward to it and part of me is already over it. Either way, I still plan to keep up with being as active as possible.

I’m back!

wp-16732885099581378564870432283774

After a week, I’m testing negative and back at work. For me, COVID was like getting an annoying cold but with more of that feeling of my ears not being able to pop. Now, I notice I’m really sore. At first I thought it was from resting and laying around so much but apparently, body aches after COVID are a thing. I’m going to ease my way back into working out. Since I’m back at work, I’m just listening to my move reminder to get in some extra steps. At home, I’m just doing bodyweight exercises; no dumbbells or resistance bands. The last thing I want is to push myself too hard then end up getting sick again.
