NYCC 2023 Recap

Once again, I managed to make it through all four days of the con. I’m in the last picture as Loona and my kid is the bleach eyes guy from Call of Duty. Not many people recognized who I was but it was really cool when they did.

While I did cosplay, I was there for work. I found it both cool and sad that there was so many panels and discussions around book bans and challenges. On the upside, this means that for all the noise, there are more people against bans than for them and the respect for librarians and educators deal with all this is clear. It can feel like our job is thankless sometimes and it was so nice to hear that there are at least some people out there that have our backs.

I did manage not to spend a ton of money; which is good since I’m stretched to the limit these days. But, I am pumped and redoubling my efforts to put out tons more content and goods!

NYCC 2022 Day 1.

Since this is NYCC weekend and I attend all 4 days, my steps are going to be off the charts. And as I figured, being on my feet and wandering around all day left me with little appetite. I just snacked on a granola bar and some homemade popcorn.

Here are some highlights of what NYCC had to offer today! Other than the dudes hawking their CD’s at the front (I literally paid them to leave me alone and left the CD’s on some random table) everyone there was chill and there was space to move around. It’s usually like that on what is usually “Professional Day” and given there’s a mental limit for me being in crowds, I’m able to stay longer and see more things this way.

We’ll see how tomorrow goes!

NYCC Swag

There’s been a distinct lack of free swag in the last few years but that doesn’t mean I don’t find some cool stuff! Here’s the books I managed to get my hot little hands on.

I haven’t finished reading any of these yet but I will be reviewing them as I do. Those Holy Hell comics are from the panel I went to about comics and comic cons in India; which was an awesome panel. I did give them my card and get a card from them so I hope I can get more comics from them in the future so I can review them for you guys and get them some more exposure.

The Invader Zim comics are the ones I’m looking forward to the most. Ever since I heard they were coming out, I wanted to read them. I still watch the show when I get a chance.

That little Batman mini thing I will probably give to the kid or sell it on eBay. It was one of the few things I got for free but I can’t keep just collecting things. I have to clear out so my office can function as an actual office.

Tomorrow it’s back to reviews! I know I’ve fallen a little behind but I have no shortage of some interesting material for you guys.

Comic Con Wrap Up

Yes, I am aware this is late but honestly, I was so wiped from the con then going right back to work. Hell, I still feel sore. ;_;100_0173

That pic pretty much sums it up. Me and the kiddo went and we kicked major ass. XD I am sadly(?) the proud owner of My Little Pony Monopoly but hey, could anyone say no to that face?

Ok, I wanted it, too. XD

I went as New 52 Wonder Woman and unless I was WITH my child, no one had a clue who I was. I got more pictures taken of me last year when I was a steampunkish Poison Ivy that was more boobs than fabric. :p I’ll have to keep that in mind for next year.

All in all, I had a fabulous time. Kiddo was well behaved and I didn’t spent too much money. I declare this to be the best year yet and I look forward to next year already! 😀

Today at New York Comic Con!

If you follow my Instragram or twitter you’ve seen some of the randomness I encountered today and it wasn’t even the day I went to dress up! I skipped the pics of cosplayers and don’t expect much from Saturday because I will be cosplaying myself. XD

So, here’s the free swag I got:

And here’s the stuff I paid cash money’s for.

Now, I have a few minor details to add to my costume so I won’t be going tomorrow but look forward to at least ONE decent picture of me in the costume. 😉

Writer Wednesday – A Writing Update

Ahh, it’s such a relief to not have to sit and worry about that driving test anymore. I’m also back to working out so things are really coming together. 🙂

For a little bit, I’ve put Gods in the Grey City up for free for Prime members over on Kindle. For how long? I have no idea. It was random for me to decide to do this in the first place.

I have resumed editing of Greenhouse (the follow up to Dreamhunter) and I’m saving the short stories for next month where I once again attempt my personal Short Story Experiment 2012! 😀 The deal with that is to just finish as many short stories as I can within the month of November. Typed or written, doesn’t matter. I just wanna see if I can finish a bunch of stories given the proper motivation. ;D

That’s about all I’ve got today. Remember; if you’ve read or liked my work, please leave a review. I’ll post a bunch of comic con stuff when I get the pictures organized. 😉

I’m a big kid now!

I do have to apologize for my lack of posts. I had my road test yesterday and that was at the forefront of my mind. I tried to get in a confident mindset but I was scared shitless. My hands were shaking by the time the test was over but I passed. 🙂 Not with flying colors (I hit the curb parallel parking) but I can drive all legal like now. ^_^

So what’s the first thing I do? Why, purchase a pirate decal for the back of my car of course! It’s my little black car that means my freedom so I named my car Pearl. Ahh, yes… The Black Pearl is indeed freedom. 🙂

I’ll be updating on comic con and writing and drawing, and basically everything over the week. Now that I don’t have to wait around for trains or someone to pick me up, a bunch of time frees up for me! 😀 YAY!!

Comic Con Swag: Day One

The first day of New York Comic Con went off without a hitch! 😀 I went to a couple panels on graphic novels in libraries then checked out the floor! Of course there was much swag to be had and Lenni does love her swag. Lets start with the swag I paid for:

IMG_3139
Yes, that is a full set of Wet Moon by Ross Campbell. I got this series for the library and I’ve always wanted a set of my own! 😀 Of course there’s a pretty bound Lenore: Cooties by Roman Dirge because I didn’t have that one yet. That little box is steampunk soap with a key in it. XD I’ll post the brand when I locate the card for the place. The scent is amazing!

Now for the free swag!
IMG_3135IMG_3136
I got posters, catalogs, post cards, press on nails, bracelets, and buttons. Man, if I can ever get my kid to behave, that Chibbi Moon poster is all hers. XD

Now, there are no pictures of me because I didn’t dress up. I’m saving my costume till Saturday when me and the family are ALL going dressed up. 🙂 That’s gonna be a marathon day for sure.

I’d go into more detail but holy crap, I’m tired. =_= Till tomorrow!! 😀

I’m BACK! >D

After a semi-restful weekend (how restful is a birthday party for a 3 year old, really?) I have traced the headache problems to lack of sleep and lack of sleep to the snoring of my dear ole’ hubbz. Short of kicking him out to sleep on the couch, I’m not gonna sleep well with him in the bed till he sees a doctor or I smother him with a pillow. Whichever comes first.

In writing news, the two small stories I’m working on are moving along well, Dark Horse enjoyed my last review, and I’m excited to start my Short Story Project next month instead of doing NaNoWriMo. Edits for book two are proceeding slowly but steadily and I hope for the preview chapters to be going up on the site soon. As soon as I have them all perfect and pristine, they’ll start going up. 🙂 Are you excited? I sure am. I’ve been picking at book two for YEARS now!

That’s all I’ve got so far. Eventually I’ll catch up with the Pagan Blog thing but probably not this week with Comic Con right around the corner. I would like to get through the whole thing, ya know?

New York Comic Con Here I Come… Maybe

Today, I was able to get my boss to spring for the professional pass for NYCC. If all goes well, me and Misfit Librarian will be going. But here’s the rub:

This year, you have to apply and we find out in 21 days IF we get to go.

To the person(s) who somehow gamed the system to score 4 day passes on the cheap, thanks for making the process harder for us. You suck. T_T

Other than that, I am excited to go. I toy with the idea of dressing up as Poison Ivy or my usual “Gonna have to carry a bunch of crap” uniform of jeans and an obnoxious t-shirt. Depends on what I feel like doing. :p

Will you be at the con this year?
