When the opportunity presented itself to have a geek/nerd box delivered to my house every month, I JUMPED at the chance. These are so cool, I can’t even. I’m even scared to open most of this stuff!
The novel in there is Ready Player One, which I will admit I have never heard of but I’m excited to read and I will be reviewing it.
I am undecided on whether or not to give the doll to my kid to draw on or draw on it myself. The robot I will try and I’m not into dice games so if anyone out there wants them, feel free! I love sharing things from the boxes I get. 🙂
Next time I will get a better picture since I snapped this with my phone for Instagram. I’ll even try to pick it all apart and show you everything in it. They have awesome stuff.
Happy Wednesday everybody! 😀 I thought I’d try and get in the habit of a weekly check in with you all to let you know how things are going writing wise since I’m sure you’re all chomping at the bit to see more work from me. 😉
First of all, Winter Boot is nearly complete. I have two, maybe three short chapters to go and I’ll get to posting them on Fiction Fridays again as soon as they’re typed and edited. I’m also working on a loose outline for a lesbian romance called “10 Summers” which will be my next FF offering.
I haven’t touched Greenhouse. You can throw rocks at me later.
I am currently working on a small collection of my erotica. When I say “small,” I mean 3-4 stories I plan to put on Amazon all together. I’m trying to match them up so they all kinda fit together but judging from what I’ve seen offered on Amazon in terms of cheap erotica, I could throw them together like mixed nuts and nobody would give a crap.
I’ve been lax with keeping you guys updated on my book reviews. I’ve posted three more (here, here, and here) and I have two more books on deck.
I have also been sketching, crocheting, and knitting. Expect pictures of my crafts to be popping up on here more often. 😉 I don’t sketch fast enough for my Deviant Art or Storm Artist galleries to be updated all the time but with more practice, I’ll get there.
Yes, I effing slipped on the ice again last week. Winter can officially fucking suck it. Please give me Spring before I kill myself. >_<
All in all, for a gal who’s only three months off demanding a divorce, I’m not doing too badly! I’m not writing more to distract from my feelings, I’ve been dealing with my feelings so well, I have more mental energy to write! If I can stop slipping on, hitting, or getting hit by anything for a few months YEARS, I’ll be in good shape here.
In order to pimp the crap outta my book and get some fan-swag in the process, I am hosting a contest.
To enter, send Lenni some fanart or fanfiction from the First Brood series. You don’t have to buy the book to know the characters. The first nine chapters are here for you to read. Pick a character (or two) or a fun situation and create away! 😀
Here’s what you can win:
Grand Prize (1 person for art, 1 person for fan-fiction) is a free print copy of Dreamhunter.
ALL SUBMISSIONS MUST BE ELECTRONIC: The point is to get something for free. I’m not gonna make anyone pay for postage. Fan-fiction should be in the body of your email. I would prefer not to get attachments but it’s ok. Just use RTF format. Pictures should be JPEG so I can see them.
Keep it to an R rating. I’ll have a different contest for naughty bits. See next rule for why:
ALL ART AND FAN-FICTION RECEIVED WILL BE POSTED ON THE SITE WITH CREDIT: On my site there is a Gifts page. I would like to be able to display the entries without having to post warnings all over the place. Artsy nudity is ok. Parts touching other parts is a no-no. Unless expressly told NOT to post it, I will. Right now there is no separate section for NC-17 work. When there is, I will hold a contest for that.
All entries must include your name, title of work, which character(s) it is, and what link you’d like the credit to go to.
This contest is limited to First Brood characters. With other characters is fine (ex: Auris vs Batman or something) but not anyone from my other stories.
Send all entries to firstname.lastname@example.org.
One entry per person please. One person should not submit art AND a story. One or the other.
Fan-Fiction entries need to be under 10,000 words. I want to have time to read them all.
Final date for entries is March 31, 2012. Results will be posted by April 15, 2012 (barring injury or illness of course)
I would love for all my fans to get involved and inspired by my work. ^_^ If my readers would also love to do me a kindness in spreading the word, I would appreciate it. 😉
I did foresee this happening to me but eh, cest la vie.
Since I can’t get to the bookstore to buy my favorite books, I have been getting them from Amazon. Since I also use Amazon to try and find the weird books I don’t find in book stores, my orders there have been getting stranger. I don’t mind it but it’s a serious departure from my buying habits.
I subscribe to Heavy Metal (some NWS images here, kids… In fact the whole site is Adult. Under 18? Don’t go.) and I LOVE some of the stories I see in them enough to buy the trades when I can find them. I own Requiem (and not just cause there are vampires in it) and now I’ve gone and purchased Sky Doll. Granted, I use credit card points and coupons out the yazoo to afford these things (feel free to buy my stories/books to support my addiction ~_^) but to have these books in my hands just makes me so damn happy.
And it is because Borders closed. Otherwise, I would have spent all my money IN the store and not have had enough money to spend on Amazon.
Yay for unintended consequences? :p
And there’s more. Because I’m looking at all these fucking AWESOME comics (and abusing the caps lock…) I feel the need to draw. How will I find time for this you say? By instituting a Drawing Night or two a week. And it’s in the Crackberry, so it’s law. I’d loooveee to update my ignored Deviant Art gallery…
Oh, and if you pop by that link and snoop through my gallery; yes, the pictures I have of Ciro and Tia and of Tia are what the characters look like. Yes, those are mouse ears. No relation to Mickey.
I figure if I’m able to really practice on a schedule, my skills will get back to snuff. Not to mention fill all the sketchbooks I have laying around the house. Nothing says “sad” like a shelf full of empty pages. I wanna scribble on ’em. >}
So in closing, the death of Borders has me buying more oddball comics and wanting to draw more. Good? Bad? Not sure. :p If it ends up in me posting little comic strips and sketches then it’s total win. 😉
