Today’s Workout: It’s getting nicer!

It was a gorgeous day out and I needed to pick up a couple things so, I had a nice walk on my lunch break that for some reason, Google Fit saw fit to eliminate all my steps from right after. Lovely. It’s so cool to have my accomplishments literally erased.

This wasn’t my lunch today (I had some melon, I wasn’t that hungry) but Monday, I prepped raw salmon and set up my Itaki early to make sure everything cooked through. I think this worked out well, I personally liked baked salmon better than steamed and while most of my meals make the office smell amazing and people come in and complement me all the time, I think cooking salmon is too much. It’s healthy, it’s delicious, but nah. I’ll keep it to chicken and beef from now on. I can’t remember if I’d made pork before but, that’s something I’d like to try that would probably workout great in an electric lunch box. Plus, I prefer steaming things to using the microwave at work.

Today’s Workout: Well…

wp-17103523211348673609040871569920

I have not been okay and it’s about time I admitted that. I have been in a major depressive episode for weeks and on top of that I lost someone important to me so, I’m lucky to get through most days. However, not reaching my goals isn’t going to be anything that helps me feel better so, I’m trying to get back in my healthier habits. I did the desk peddler today while I watched a webinar about how to sell more of my books and getting my creative juices flowing again.

This was basically my only meal for the day, not because of depression but because I’m on the maximum dose of Saxenda and all this food at once actually made me feel sick. And I was annoyed with myself that forgot to add salsa to my little bootleg taco bowl here which is why there’s that empty portion. It’s probably not the healthiest thing but it’s been a long time since I’ve made this. I’ll have enough to enjoy leftovers for awhile, too.

I’m gonna try and make a real push to do better. Fingers crossed things make a turn for the better.

Today’s Workout: More stretching!

In addition to the desk peddler, I made sure to do my stretching to help with my soreness. I will be running more often so. I want to be prepared.

I didn’t have time to make breakfast again so, lunch was my first meal. I had steak with my usual Itaki lunch and used that same pack of steaks to make dinner with some broccoli and the last of the leftover rice. I’ve been feeling snacky late at night lately and I need to go back to my not eating after 8pm habit. It’s not good to eat so close to when you go to sleep.

Today’s Workout: Whoa, I actually did it

wp-17065466810246800421856201167428

I’m still doing the desk peddler during the week and despite the low heart points, I felt the work in my muscles. And again, it’s better than just sitting there.

I got up early enough to make a hot breakfast and I packed the leftovers from last night as my lunch for the day. For dinner, my friends took me out (yes, I actually went out of my home instead of going straight home to write or workout) to an Indian place for dinner, which I didn’t stop to photograph because I was just enjoying hanging out with them but I did take a picture of the can of soda that I tried because it gave me a chuckle. I very rarely have anything but water or seltzer to drink (that’s not alcohol) so, this was a treat for me. And this was a vegetarian Indian place so the curry and rice I had were healthy. I am now obsessed with the green dipping sauce they had and I am totally gonna try to make some for myself. It was delicious.

Today’s Workout: Using up more leftovers

wp-17055202593041494703801904825533

I ended up cutting a little short because life happens but I still feel like it was worth it. If my muscles feel sore, I count it as a win.

I had an apple for breakfast but there was no picture so, I guess the meal didn’t exist and the calories don’t count? Lunch was more reheated chicken and rice but I felt the need for something green to add to the meal so, I tossed in some snow peas and a couple cloves of garlic. For dinner, I finally finished off those leftover fries and to be honest, I felt a little sick after. I can’t take large amounts of food in general, much less fried food. But I bought the damn things and I wasn’t going to throw them out so, I just choked them down to get it over with.

Today’s Workout: It still worked

wp-17054500882515349969011284065604

I’ve been able to make a good dent on my book piles as I’m on the peddler. I had some issues with my smart watch but in the end, it did the job and kept track of my heart rate.

I’m also getting better about having something for breakfast. It’s risky keeping a lot of fruit in the house because like many people, you buy them with the best intentions but too many end up growing fur. Lunch was my standard but with chicken and I had some leftover chicken wings and fries in the fridge so I had that for dinner. Not the healthiest dinner but it did the job since I wasn’t that hungry and it took the edge off. I still have some fries left since I’m on the full dose of Saxenda and don’t eat much. I really don’t like wasting food so, I’ll probably finish the rest off tomorrow for dinner.

Today’s Workout: Dry

wp-17053356595568354726373353818309

Doing the desk peddler is making me very sore so it’s working. I know I’ll have to do more intense cardio and weight training soon but I’m working my way up to that.

I made chicken thighs over the weekend and while I absolutely overcooked them (they weren’t defrosted all the way and I’d rather have dry chicken than salmonella) but steaming it in the Itaki helped make it a bit juicer. I know putting it in the microwave would have dried it out even more. And since my office is so cold, I can warm up my food at my desk and stay near the heater. I didn’t get many steps in since I’m still working on a pile of books on my desk to review but I’m glad for the peddler. It’s helping with the hip pain from sitting too much.

Today’s Workout: Getting back into it

wp-1704743226419278249842411513407

I will completely admit to getting off track the last few weeks. But, I’m refocused and ready to work. I went back to using the desk peddler to get my muscles working again

I’m still working on making breakfast a proper habit but one of my friends at work gave me a protein bar from Trader Joe’s that was really good! I may have to get a couple boxes and keep them in my desk. For lunch, I tried out my Yule gift to myself, the Itaki Smart Pro (not sponsored). I’d made lemon chicken, rice, and broccoli on Sunday so, I packed some of the leftovers in the containers and set the Itaki to reheat. 20 minutes later, I had a hot lunch. This works out better than the microwave since it didn’t dry out the chicken when I heated it all up. Yes, it does take longer than 2 minutes in the microwave, so if your break is 30 minutes, it’ll be a rush to snarf it down and pack everything back up to go back to work. The cord is also ABSURDLY short. I already have an extension chord from the other Itaki so it was fine but yikes. I get that they’re expecting you to do this at your desk and have an outlet close by but even so, there’s no way it would reach directly from the top of my desk to an outlet near the floor. And yes, it still uses steam and you have to put some water in the bottom.

Not that I intended this to be a review of the device but anyways, I got a deal on some avocados and made a salad with one for dinner. I can feel my muscles waking up and I hope to get back to running soon!

Today’s Workout: Best laid plans…

wp-1702345238139

While I know I’ll feel good afterwards, I still am having a lot of trouble getting up early to run before work. It probably doesn’t help that I’m not sleeping through the night so when that early alarm goes off, I am not rested. I’m gonna have to rethink what days I’m able to fit in a run but for now, I got on the stationary bike while I did some writing.

Over the weekend, I made a batch of chili and I’ll be picking through that for the rest of the week. The usual beer I like to use has vanished from the face of the earth but Modelo Dark will do the job in a pinch. I used up all the ground bison I had bought before I had a bunch of issues with my car that cleaned out my savings. It’s good but ground beef/pork works just as well. I’d buy it again if I can get a good deal but not regularly. For dinner, I had a salad but with cabbage instead of lettuce to change it up a little. I find it to be more filling than lettuce and has different vitamins in it. Plus, it’s colorful to mix the red and white cabbage together.

It’s looking like my meals will be mainly repeats this week. I guess batch cooking doesn’t make for very interesting day to day photos but it’s helpful to me to always know what food is available and how many calories on average I’d be consuming and my macros. I don’t stress macros much but if I’m low on certain things and my doctor suggested supplements, I want to keep an eye on certain things. I would prefer to get nutrition from my food rather than pills or gummies but hey, I’ll do what’s necessary.

Today’s Workout: A nice session.

wp-1700581883416

More desk peddler for today. I had a webinar and doing the peddler made it bearable. I haven’t been trying for long but I have already noticed my hip pain is lessened since I’ve been moving around more. I was really worried something was seriously wrong and I do plan to talk to my doctor about it anyway but I’m really happy about that.

I didn’t have time to make lunch and since the place across the street actually lowered their price on their salad (they’re still smaller than they used to be), I decided to get one of those. For dinner, I needed to use up the meat and veggies I was not going to use for Thanksgiving and the leftover rice. I doubt Uncle Roger would approve of my beef fried rice but I liked it and had plenty leftover for lunch tomorrow. All in all, not a bad day.
