Needlework Progress

I had to spend money on the Black Panther themed yarn from Jimmy Beans wool. I got a bunch of skeins so I decided to make a shawl for a friend of mine and here’s how far I’ve gotten.

My mental process for this was a roller coaster. Going from “Oh yeah, I can totally build this one stitch at a time” to “Fuck my life, I have to build this one stitch at a time.” But hey, I am loving these colors! And it’s fun and easy to knit this despite some of the stitches I’ve slipped that I feel just add character.

Writing Update? Other Priorities.

Not gonna lie, not much writing got done this week. After selling out my shop TWICE, I had to shift gears and put my effort where the sure money is coming in. And that’s my shop.

Can you blame me? I got a mortgage to pay and right now my needlework is selling much faster than my books. Perhaps that will change and I’ll have to switch focus again but for now, that’s how it is.

Now, this does not mean I’ve stopped writing. Muse does as muse do and I make sure to get my words in before I forget them. I haven’t given up on Emma’s story or any of my other projects.

As the shop fills back up again, more writing will happen. I have so much yarn to use up, filling it won’t take long. So, don’t despair! More stories will happen.

Sold Out! Again…

My newest creation is gone but I am hard at work on more items! Not sure if anything will be ready in time for the holidays but I shall try!

All this is doing wonders for my stash-busting, let me tell you… I’ve always had too much yarn so don’t worry; plenty more items will be coming. And not just scarves, either.

I’m not selling the box as a lot. I’ll be posting these as individual listings on That Sinking Ship over the next few days.

Cold Winter On The Way

Old Farmers Almanac says this winter is going to suck. And I have no guilt whatsoever about using that news story to shill my online shop.

Over at That Sinking Ship, I have scarves up and soon there will be hand warmers and hats. I have a ton of yarn to use up and blankets (which will be posted eventually) take way too long. Be on the lookout for new products!

Stash Busting Project: Arm Warmers

img_20170107_191324370.jpg

Since my kid decided to leave her gloves somewhere right when it began to snow, I whipped these up for her in about a day. It’s the most basic of basics, I cast on 30 or so stitches and knit a rectangle, then whip stitched the sides with a thumb hole. It used almost the entire skein of Whatever Yarn This Was Because The Label Went Bye-bye.

My hands only hurt a little after making these and that may have had something to do with having to stop and go shovel. Since it was stupid easy to make these, I may start stocking my shop over at That Sinking Shipย with these in various colors and sizes.

Did she like them? Yeah, I hadda practically steal them to wash them.

Since I haven’t made that much of a dent in my stash, I invested in one of these Wirk Desk Bikes:

This way if I sit and knit or crochet all day, I can still burn calories. So far, I’ve lost 8 pounds this year and I intend to keep it up!

A New Side Project – ThatSinkingShip.com

After battling with my host because of my complete lack of site building skills (it’s sad, really), I believe I’ve gotten my new store up and running! So, I am announcing it in time for the holiday season! ๐Ÿ˜€

Bear in mind, this store is to sell anything and everything. Expect more of my needlework to go up in the future but there are all sorts of cool things I find that I don’t really want or need so I’m passing them on to whoever would want them. ๐Ÿ™‚

As for the name, I know it’s strange but is really is a giant middle finger to people who think I’m weak or stupid; to people who thought my world would collapse without them.

As the site grows, I’ll be promoting it much more. I’ve been practicing my needlework skills and getting back into drawing, too! So, who knows what will show up there! ๐Ÿ˜€

Feel free to take a look around, tell your friends, and of course enjoy!

Needlework Update! Rainbow Crochet Scarf

IMG_3588

This scarf is made from acrylic yarn and is crocheted to be nice and long so you can wrap it around a few times. I liked the rainbow colors of this yarn. It’s very upbeat and bright.

Stash busting is hard going but plugging along. I am really excited to get all this yarn outta here. ๐Ÿ™‚
