Todays’s Workout: Fantastic

This run was amazing. I held my form, didn’t feel too sore, and had that satisfying feeling of a great workout. It’s my last run for the week and what a way to end it all off.

I’m doing that thing again where I get obsessed with a certain food, eat it all the time, and then don’t touch it again for months. It’s avocado toast’s turn. I need to find a way to make it so it’s not so damn messy to eat. I feel like I’m in an old school infomercial: “There’s got to be a better way!” as too many bits of avocado or tomato fall into my lap. I should probably mash up the avocado so it’s more like a spread but I didn’t have time. I was almost late for work as it was.

Today’s Workout: Bittersweet

While I am stoked to be running again, it’s a huge downer to know that the app I love to use is dying.

I see they’re trying to sound optimistic but with the world the way it is, I don’t hold out much hope. It would be a damn shame to lose this app. I’ve been using it for years and really enjoy it.

I had an English Muffin for breakfast with a touch of butter but there’s no picture because I ate it in the car. Lunch was my usual Itaki and I decided to give avocado toast a try for dinner. I put salt, pepper, and lemon juice on it and even though I cut it into smaller pieces, it still was a mess to eat. I gotta say though, this was so refreshing to eat after my run. I think a whole avocado was a bit much but I was feeling lazy and didn’t feel like dealing with storing leftovers.

Today’s Workout: Getting better!

I can tell I’m hitting my stride. My form isn’t always the best which leads to a little back pain but my legs are getting stronger and my stamina is increasing. If things start to get too easy, I’ll be upping my speed on the run intervals. My pace could use some improvement.

I’d gone to the pharmacy and snagged some almonds on sale. They make a great quick breakfast and paired well with the latte I tried. Probably won’t buy any more canned coffee for a while since I have so much instant and ground coffee. I’ve been enjoying green beans in my Itaki and I finished off that chicken parm for dinner. The place we ordered from was really good. I’d totally get those again. I think the carbs are worthwhile with all the cardio I’ve been doing and it was just nice and cozy end to the day. It’s so good to be running again even if it’s slow going for now.

Today’s Workout: Veggie Race

I had the day off from work but that doesn’t mean I took a break. I got up early for this run and spent the day doing chores, including planting those seeds I’ve been talking about. I have some herbs, cucumber, lettuce, radishes, scallions, and white onions. I have one whole container of just white onion because in my house, it’s always a race to get to them first. For me, those work best in my Itaki and the child will just choose those over any other kind of onion ( swear, it’s just because I want them). Lettuce is also a high-priority item. We’re both salad people.

I… Did not expect for the broccoli rabe to look that unappetizing in a picture. Anyway, we had a craving for Italian and there was a buy one get one deal so, I got chicken parm that will take one more try to eat. I can’t even fathom finishing a plate like that anymore. Half of that and the broccoli rabe as some much needed veggies. It was a comforting day and I got a lot done.

Today’s Workout: Veggie Hog

I can already feel my stamina coming back! Sticking to 30 minutes for a while seems to be doing the trick. I’m just gonna stick with that until it feels too easy. Then I’ll work my way up to 40 minutes and try to increase my speed.

It was a typical food day aside for the salad. I was craving one yesterday but I was so tired, I didn’t wanna stand there chopping vegetables. No excuse for that today and I even managed to get to a cucumber before my kid! I’m blessed to have a kid that’s always loved vegetables but this boy will DEVOUR them so fast, I don’t get any. Sometimes, I even have to hide them just so I can have some. This is partly why I’m going to try and grow some of my own this year. It’ll save me some money and make the kid happy.

Today’s Workout: Monkey Business

Yeah, that’s an easy title. I probably could have come up with something more pithy, but meh. They can’t all be diamonds. Instead of lazing around in bed until I absolutely HAD to get up, I did my run before my late shift at work. It went fairly well; my knee felt fine and my stamina was good. My hair was a poofy mess the rest of the day after my shower but that’s not a big deal. I can deal with a poofy mohawk if I can get in another workout for the week.

I realized that it’d been a while since I’d had a salad with balsamic vinegar and wanted to change things up a bit. It was nice! I’m glad I bought some and have it in my rotation now. I did my workout on an empty stomach so, the salad was for lunch. I found a deal on ground wagyu and that was in my Itaki for dinner. It was overall a lot. Anything over 1000 calories a day feels like too much food. I dunno why the salad felt like the best part of the day but, I am a salad person. I genuinely enjoy them. And tuna is a great protein. Win win!

Today’s Workout: No system

This run was not paced properly at all. I simply ran until I couldn’t anymore then took a break, then started running again. My knee randomly started to hurt on and off so I just held in for it to pass. And of course it was fine all day until I got on the treadmill.

For breakfast I finished off that lemon cake and brought in some leftover chili for lunch. For dinner, my kid was kind enough to get me something from their favorite take out place but I didn’t take a picture. It was just chicken fingers so, not that big a deal. The chili was the highlight of the day. So damn comforting.

Today’s Workout: Blink and…

Yeah, sometimes these workouts just fly by. I was trying to focus on using my thigh muscles instead of my calves. I always feel the run more in my calves and I wanna spread the love. Or rather, soreness. Next thing I know, the episode was over!

I was gonna rotate that cake I had for breakfast but meh. I didn’t eat the whole thing. Once I saw it was over 300 calories, I broke it in half and saved the rest for another day. Lunch was my usual and I saw that Weee Asian Grocery had some amazing deals on various types of lettuce. I cut up a head of red leaf lettuce and added some tuna, onion, olive oil, and red wine vinegar. I go back and forth wanting lemon juice or vinegar in my salads. Depends on my mood I guess? I tend to get picky with salad dressings and would rather not use them.

Today’s Workout: What was I thinking…

I don’t know why I always think I can just jump back into things like I haven’t been taking a break from running for months. This was not my best and I should have taken the day to rest and do something else. I guess that will have to be tomorrow.

I also don’t know why I made these big ass meals thinking I would be able to finish them. I used the entire head of cabbage when I should have used half. It’s all good though. My kid loves salads and had no problem eating what was left. My back hurt after my run so popcorn it was. I can eat the rest of that tomorrow. I need to be more careful making meals…

Today’s Workout: The Day Two Slump

For some reason that first day back to running after a long hiatus is exhilarating and fun but the second day is the pits. I felt good afterwards but still. And it seems like 35 minutes is a good length to get in a warm up and cool down in so I don’t get cramps in my legs. I’m aiming to run for 3-4 days a week and either rest or bike the other days. I do need to try and fit the kettlebell in at some point so it’s not just taking up space.

I forgot to make my protein shake this morning but lunch was filling and I didn’t feel too hungry anyways. I’m back to broccoli for a bit for the vitamins and still adding ginger while I have it in the house. Dinner was some salmon that I tried to have leftover rice with but it was WAY too dry to eat. The birds will enjoy it instead. Even though I’m complaining about it, it’s nice to be running after work again. I feel accomplished at the end of the day and it’s more calories burned than the desk peddler.
