Toshiro and Hourai face Ivy and learn who Ivy was as a human, challenging Hourai’s firm belief in transfloration.

I am negative shocked that the doctor behind all this is a freakish mad scientist type. I do have to give credit to the creativity in this volume when it comes to the combat with Ivy and how Toshiro is able to see the thoughts of a transflorated person. Even though his life is shortened, he is determined to make a difference, and I do want to see what other things he can do and if these abilities will impact how or if transforation goes forward in the future. 4 out of 5.

NEST is crippled, their supply of Cinderella is gone, but with some intel from Junhyeong, Suchan and the other students plot to take the fight to Breeder’s location.

While another action-packed volume, this one does take the time to slow down for a moment to take in the big changes that happen as a result of them going up against Breeder. No spoilers, but Suchan is altered by the end of it, and it’s something that I can see either being a huge threat later or a chance to see him cleverly turn things to his advantage. He seems to be the type of protagonist to do the latter. I’d rather see that than the ole ‘power of friendship’ angle. The threat is ramping up, and I am really intrigued to see where this goes. 4 out of 5.

Tokio, Ely, and Azuma go to Beast Isles to train, a place owned by the Yamato Mori. They get attacked and taken to see the founder of the Yamato Mori, Sora Siruha.

This volume was really interesting. There’s plenty of action and some funny moments but I don’t know how I feel about this big chosen one prophesy thing. I like the little twist on it but the previous volumes had the theme of maybe the chosen one thing isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Tokio is trying hard to find his way  because he always saw Asuma as a sort of chosen one but he got powers and has to work very hard to be competent; much less a golden child. I dunno, we’ll see. 4 out of 5.

Maker Faire!

100_0122

Last Saturday I went with my friend MisfitLibrarian to Maker Faire; a tech nerd’s paradise! 😀 It was really cool but alas, it would have been cooler if I could have brought the kiddo. There were so many stations where things could be assembled:

That’s me making a button. ^_^ One of the few stations not PACKED with people. @_@

100_0119

I haven’t ridden in a school bus in… At least 15 years. 0.0 These were the “shuttles” going from the faire to the parking lot. It made me feel old… ;_;

But it was worth it because there was a man in a metro card suit with a robot metro card dog… A robot dog. Very awesome. 😀

The theme of the place was so techie, I was very disappointed to find this beer garden was not in fact some kind of garden powered by beer. That would have been too cool for words. Alas, they only sold beer.

This is why it would have been so awesome to get the kiddo here. These were butterfly bikes you could ride in!

And a giant felted t-rex… Because life needs more of those. 🙂

All in all, it’s a really cool place and I wouldn’t mind going back next year. Unfortunately? There is jack my library can do with any of the tech I saw. Sure, if we were a huge library with money to burn and unused space I could see having a maker center with kits and 3D printers and such. But us? We’re lucky we’re here after Sandy. I’m lucky to have a job!

Besides, if the library has any extra money, they need to buy that giant dinosaur.

H+ Trailer Review

Sean over at Otakus and Geeks keeps me clued in to the latest news involving impending geekdom I may enjoy. Recently, he’s told me about the impending series H+. Here’s the sneak peak:

I have to say, as someone who’s attached to her smartphone enough that people tease me about having something implanted in my brain so I could be connected all the time, I am intrigued! 😀 I can’t wait for this series to start (should be in August). Like I need another thing to distract me from writing but the episodes are only 5-12 minutes long (I hear) so I think I can spare that. 😉

The idea of technology gone wrong is hardly new but I like the track H+ is taking with it. It seems to be filmed in the same style of 24 or Lost where you are taken through the story in small chunks at a time and not necessarily in order. I enjoy that format because I can go back when the story is complete and discover new things. I live for those “Ah HA!!!” moments in my entertainment. 😉 I feel almost rewarded by sticking to the narrative.

I have high hopes for this series and I’ll keep you all posted on my thoughts as it goes on. 🙂
