Lenni Reviews: “Dra-Q” Vol. 1, by Chiyo

*This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review and is suggested for mature readers due to gore.

Amelie Kurosaki is a high school girl hiding the fact that she is a vampire who must follow strict rules in order to continue living among humans. When attacks on humans seem vampiric, it puts Amelie’s secret at risk.

This volume doesn’t waste any time getting started. Main character, love interest, family drama, and rival love interest all plunked down in under 200 pages. It’s gory and has some dark humor, but the pace doesn’t let you sit with what’s happening for very long. You know the rules Amelie is given are presented to be inevitably broken, but I didn’t think all of them would be broken in the first volume. The plot is fun, the blood and gore are top-notch, but I almost felt dizzy by the end of it. 3 out of 5.

Lenni Reviews: “Lumine” Vol. 1, by Emma Krogell

*This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review.

Lumine is a werewolf who lives on the fringes of society because can only shift into a puppy. While on a desperate search for employment, he meets a witch named Kody who is not very well liked but is in need or a bodyguard.

I really enjoy collections of web toons. I find them more satisfying than reading them on my phone. Anyway, this is really cute and has plenty of intrigue to keep me interested. Lumine is adorable, earnest, and fun to follow as the mysteries are set up for future reveals. The art is lovely and has expressive humor along with some cool magical elements. I look forward to Kody and Lumine becoming good friends. Lumine is a sweet kid and Kody offsets him well by being a sad boy. They’ll be great together. 4 out of 5.

Lenni Reviews: “Coyote” Vol. 4, by Ranmaru Zaria

*This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review and is rated 18+

Now that Coyote knows who Marleen really is, Marleen is put on house arrest to keep him away from Coyote while the wolves and wolf hunters conspire with their respective groups behind the scenes. Coyote takes a huge risk to try and rescue the man he loves.

While Coyote and Marleen are sweet and they have their spicy scenes, I am all about what is going on with the wolves gearing up to take on the mafia family that’s hunting them down. I am super excited to see all this come to a head (no dirty pun intended) in the next volume. 4 out of 5.

Today’s Workout: And I went to the store…

wp-1650468077653

In addition to a quick walk to the grocery store on my lunch break (they had canned tuna on sale and me and the kiddo eat a lot of salads with tuna so I try to get it cheap), I did the under desk bike again while I worked my way through some ordering. My director asked me if I could buy a bunch of graphic novels for my collection and hoooooooo boy, do I have an order to put in. If you give me the chance to boost my collection, I’ll gladly take it!

To self promote; I had a random thought about my First Brood Series and went to see how much I had completed of book 4. I’m still working on Dahlia 3 but I think I’ll sneak and update my brain on Emma’s book, too. I put it aside to work on shorter stories but I’m in the mood to work on it. We’ll see what comes of it.

This book is the collected strips from the webseries of the same name on Tapas featuring a vampire and a werewolf falling in love.

These who are almost unfairly adorable. As this is a collection of single strips, there is no overarching story other than their general relationship. It’s just Elise and Jimmy being cute and loving in their own twisted and special way. I found it very sweet and I can see reading it multiple times to justify the cover price. 4.7 out of 5.
