Today’s Workout: Damn camera…

My knees are still not up to snuff but there’s no way I’m gonna just sit idle. Not only did I do this, I took a half an hour walk to get lunch (my kid ate what I was saving to bring with me) and hit the supermarket to get some decent deals. That walk once again showed me that a damn curb is enough to humble my joints at the moment.

Since I had to go out and get lunch, I decided on a lemon tuna bagel. Don’t give me too much shit for getting a salt bagel; they were out of everything bagels. My camera did that lovely thing of showing me the photo I took of dinner and deciding not to share it but, I had rice and some Italian sausages (there was a buy one get one free deal on those). I made plenty extra along with some pre-seasoned turkey for lunch tomorrow. I seem to be into reheating leftovers these days and that’s fine! I can always go back to the fresh steamed stuff later on in the week.

Today’s Workout: UGH!!

“What’s up, Lenni? I thought you liked running again?” That’s an excellent question and the answer is there are some months where my period hits harder than others and this month was a bad one. My joints are in agony. Just taking a step up or down the curb is so painful, I was almost tempted to use the ramps. If I can’t go up or down the stairs of my own home without wincing, the treadmill is probably not the best idea. I am so pissed off. I was finding my groove and POOF! I sure hope once the hormones even out, I still keep what progress I made.

I’m still working on that bag of almonds as my breakfast, which really takes the stress out of mornings since I just have them at my desk at work and can snarf them down really fast. I’d made salmon for dinner yesterday and saved a portion for my lunch but I was so unmotivated when it came to dinner, I threw some dumplings in my steamer and called it done. The whole box of dumplings is under 300 calories and is pretty damn filling. You’re probably supposed to eat them with something but eh, I liked them just as they were.

Today’s Workout: Meh on the tofu…

I can already tell I’m gonna have to increase my speed soon but I don’t want to push it. I’m just happy to be moving regularly. I still have a bit to go but I am determined to finally get under 200 before summer comes. I keep saying that but, I think if I keep up this workout schedule, I’ll finally hit this goal.

I didn’t have time for breakfast before my run so, I made myself a sandwich and brought it to work with me for lunch. As for dinner, for some reason, tofu makes me feel so much more full than meat. Half a block is 200 or so calories so adding everything on top of that is a LOT of food. Even with half a ramen packet. Oh, I also tried a new ramen flavor which wasn’t that bad! Nothing really different from the regular chicken flavor. If it was on sale, I’d buy it again to change up my lunches a bit. But the tofu is really not the best in terms of the sensory experience. It’s too soft for me to use as often as I use other proteins. Even though it was extra firm. I should give fish another try.

Today’s Workout: Getting better!

I can tell I’m hitting my stride. My form isn’t always the best which leads to a little back pain but my legs are getting stronger and my stamina is increasing. If things start to get too easy, I’ll be upping my speed on the run intervals. My pace could use some improvement.

I’d gone to the pharmacy and snagged some almonds on sale. They make a great quick breakfast and paired well with the latte I tried. Probably won’t buy any more canned coffee for a while since I have so much instant and ground coffee. I’ve been enjoying green beans in my Itaki and I finished off that chicken parm for dinner. The place we ordered from was really good. I’d totally get those again. I think the carbs are worthwhile with all the cardio I’ve been doing and it was just nice and cozy end to the day. It’s so good to be running again even if it’s slow going for now.

Today’s Workout: Veggie Race

I had the day off from work but that doesn’t mean I took a break. I got up early for this run and spent the day doing chores, including planting those seeds I’ve been talking about. I have some herbs, cucumber, lettuce, radishes, scallions, and white onions. I have one whole container of just white onion because in my house, it’s always a race to get to them first. For me, those work best in my Itaki and the child will just choose those over any other kind of onion ( swear, it’s just because I want them). Lettuce is also a high-priority item. We’re both salad people.

I… Did not expect for the broccoli rabe to look that unappetizing in a picture. Anyway, we had a craving for Italian and there was a buy one get one deal so, I got chicken parm that will take one more try to eat. I can’t even fathom finishing a plate like that anymore. Half of that and the broccoli rabe as some much needed veggies. It was a comforting day and I got a lot done.

Today’s Workout: New Itaki Ingredient

Since I had a doctor’s appointment before work, I didn’t have the time for a run. I did the desk peddler during a webinar instead. Not as intense but, anything is better than sitting and doing nothing.

A friend gave me some bagels and I used one to make myself an egg and turkey sausage sandwich for lunch. And I managed to get eggs before they were over $3.00. I have a feeling that won’t happen again… Anyways, I’ve been meaning to try out tofu in my Itaki for a while so when I saw Weee had extra firm for $2.99, I snagged two blocks. This dinner was half a block and while it tasted fine, the texture was not quite right for me. Sorry, it’s just not the same as meat; however, this was still VERY filling. I almost couldn’t finish it. I remembered to get as much moisture as I could out of the block before I sliced it up and it absorbed the soy sauce and sesame oil, making it softer than I would have liked. I’d still make it again to change things up.

Today’s Workout: Sounds Familiar

This mission was cute! It kinda reminded me of that one Black Mirror episode only significantly less depressing and more fun because I got my workout in. This time I did two minute run, two minute walk and that’s very manageable for now. I’ll probably keep that up. I mostly felt sore in my thighs which is fine because I’m trying to get muscle definition there instead of my calves.

Yeah, I goofed with breakfast but lunch and dinner were just fine. Yes, that’s crackers and cheese for dinner with some cajun spice mix on it for a kick. I honestly didn’t feel like cooking after a run this time and haddn’t defrosted anything to have cooking while I ran so, that’s what I ate. I wasn’t very hungry anyway so, it worked out and I get to use up the cheese I bought on sale before it grew fur. Total win win.

Today’s Workout: Veggie Hog

I can already feel my stamina coming back! Sticking to 30 minutes for a while seems to be doing the trick. I’m just gonna stick with that until it feels too easy. Then I’ll work my way up to 40 minutes and try to increase my speed.

It was a typical food day aside for the salad. I was craving one yesterday but I was so tired, I didn’t wanna stand there chopping vegetables. No excuse for that today and I even managed to get to a cucumber before my kid! I’m blessed to have a kid that’s always loved vegetables but this boy will DEVOUR them so fast, I don’t get any. Sometimes, I even have to hide them just so I can have some. This is partly why I’m going to try and grow some of my own this year. It’ll save me some money and make the kid happy.

Today’s Workout: Blerg.

Since I had to get my taxes done after work, I wouldn’t have time for a run and did the desk peddler instead. I could have used the endorphins to cheer me up because no refund for me this year but ah well.

I’ve been good about having something for breakfast regularly, even if it’s small. Over the weekend, I made pulled pork and had some rice and broccoli with it. By dinner, I was depressed about my taxes and didn’t want the hassle of real cooking. I did ponder getting a second job but I have no idea where that would fit into my life.

Today’s Workout: Monkey Business

Yeah, that’s an easy title. I probably could have come up with something more pithy, but meh. They can’t all be diamonds. Instead of lazing around in bed until I absolutely HAD to get up, I did my run before my late shift at work. It went fairly well; my knee felt fine and my stamina was good. My hair was a poofy mess the rest of the day after my shower but that’s not a big deal. I can deal with a poofy mohawk if I can get in another workout for the week.

I realized that it’d been a while since I’d had a salad with balsamic vinegar and wanted to change things up a bit. It was nice! I’m glad I bought some and have it in my rotation now. I did my workout on an empty stomach so, the salad was for lunch. I found a deal on ground wagyu and that was in my Itaki for dinner. It was overall a lot. Anything over 1000 calories a day feels like too much food. I dunno why the salad felt like the best part of the day but, I am a salad person. I genuinely enjoy them. And tuna is a great protein. Win win!
