Today’s Workout: “Overwhelmed?”

wp-17265266031363320296150212026552

It’s funny how someone can observe me and say I appear overwhelmed, yet when I ask for help, I get attitude and impatience. Like it takes moving mountains to preheat the oven before I get home. I still managed to get everything done but it took longer and left less time to try and do any writing before bed. At least I was able to edit some so, the new chapter for Patreon should be up soon.

Since my clearly overwhelmed self didn’t get any help with dishes, I wasn’t able to make something from home for lunch and opted for a tuna sandwich on a bagel that also gifts me a 20 minute walk to go get it. How that and my run didn’t net me 10k steps is wild but eh, that’s not the goal for the day. For dinner, I made steak and potatoes; the potatoes bake while I’m running and by the time my shower was done, perfect taters and plenty for leftovers tomorrow. I did treat myself to a can of cider because as far as I’m concerned, when the Fall ciders and beers come out, it’s Fall. And I love trying out the new items.

Today’s Workouts: SPINE

Since the dishes were left overnight (ugggghhhh), it was easy for me to get up early to make sure the dishwasher was running before I went to run myself. I’m still using C25K as a guide and decided that maybe I’ll go to C210K after this. We’ll see because those workouts are LONG. Fitting those into the day is hard. I had no problem with them when we were in lockdown and I was working from home. I get an hour lunch so a 45 min run is no biggie since there’s no commute and if I don’t have time to shower, nobody’s around to care. Now I spend a good chunk of the day out of the house. I dunno. I’ll see when/if I get there. And I did the stationary peddler later on in the day. My thighs were wobbly but, so worth it.

Since I was up, I had another one of those awesome croissants for breakfaste and finally tried out the black tea concentrate I bought. I really like it. I tend to favor unsweetened tea anyway and it was so damn refreshing after my workout. All the dishes were finished, I prepped a salad to bring for lunch and my usual Itaki dinner. I tried out a new brand of sardines with the salad and, I gotta say, I have the weirdest “icks” about food. I like to eat sardines but seeing the tail on and the spine of the fish coming out while I ate freaked me the fuck out. There’s just… a SPINE there! And I’ve eaten whole fish around the bones before. I dunno why in THIS particular instance it bothered me but, it turned the entire meal into like, a pill I needed to take. Not gross but not great either. There’s a reason I usually stick with tuna or grilled chicken/steak in my salads. Less likely to encounter surprise spines.

Today’s Workout: I’m taking it

wp-17261085526953795096080866938825

Yeah, I know. I was gonna run every day, blah blah. I wasn’t feeling it today so there. That’s it. No excuses or anything, I just got home and I’d had enough. Sometimes, its just such a WEDNESDAY that the need to decompress takes priority so I took the evening off.

These bakerly Chocolate Croissants are only 180 calories a pop and they are SO good. I wanted to get the actual name of them in here. I think I’m gonna have to make sure they’re always around. It’s just enough that I’m not starving when lunch time rolls around. I had the steamed bok choy and chicken again for lunch and dinner was some leftover pasta that I forgot to take a picture of. I go back and forth in caring about my macros and it was a carb heavy day but do macros even matter? I hear some people don’t care and for others it’s their entire life. My biggest deal is total calories for the day and getting enough vitamins so my nails don’t start coming off again.

Today’s Workouts: Worth It

It was a rough day. I can’t even sometimes… It is so stressful to work with the public some days that I am kinda glad I did a run today. I felt so much better after; not perfect cause I was still annoyed but better. Or I managed to exhaust myself so I didn’t have the spare energy to be annoyed. I dunno. Any public facing job is bound to have it’s bad days.

Today is a rare day where I actually had three meals. Misfits Market had some chocolate croissants that are less than 200 calories a pop and they taste amazing with a good cup of coffee. For lunch, I had left over steak and potatoes and dinner was a salad that I ended up giving half of to my kid. I think that was a good amount of protein for the day because my run was so smooth. I didn’t feel like I’d been skipping it for weeks at all and it didn’t feel too easy, if that makes any sense at all. I hope I can keep this up because it isn’t so bad!

Today’s Workout: Watch Troubles

wp-17248129539233482435685681873782

I did workout Monday but sometimes, my watch just doesn’t wanna cooperate and it recorded the stationary bike as a run? I mean… Okay. I burned calories either way. My thigh muscles are burning and I don’t plan on giving them a break.

Since I’ve been doing batch cooking, I’ve been using the fancier Itaki to reheat the food. It ALMOST saved the salmon I overcooked. Steaming it to reheat it did bring back some moisture. That was Monday’s lunch and Tuesday was the usual beef and bok choy. It’d been awhile since I’d had a salad and it gave me the excuse to eat some avocado again (before my kid can eat it all) I don’t have any weight updates because I’m hip deep in PMS and I’m retaining a bunch of water. It’s not gonna be accurate. Tomorrow, I have my follow up appointment to talk about my blood test results and that should be interesting. I’ve clearly been working hard and I hope the doctor notices my progress.

Today’s Workout: I’m not touching it anymore

wp-17241676182306396349726429222566

So, I did my desk peddler and usually what I do is sync my watch to my phone, open Google Fit on my phone, then nab the above screenshot to upload to WordPress. Goggle Fit is still doing that thing where it will make my steps disappear which also makes the other apps I have succumb to vanishing steps, too. This sucks because, again, I have apps that give me points for steps that get me gift cards. I am broke and need that money. From now on, I’m not touching Google Fit until right before I go to sleep. It stresses me out to see those steps vanish.

My Butcher Box came and I loaded it up on beef tips this time. I’m back to my usual Itaki meals. Due to some really shitty sleep I’m still recovering from, I had tuna, cucumber, and onion with lemon juice and olive oil for dinner and, not lying, I was in my pjs in bed by 7pm. I need one night where I sleep though it and not wake up at some random point or a day where some miracle happens and I don’t have a list of things to do allowing me to sleep in as long as I want. Not gonna happen. In fact, once I start overtime next month, I’m gonna me even more tired.

Today’s Workout: Too close?

wp-17237735567786034339742998731797

Still on the desk peddler kick but I’m fine with it. The weather is cooling off and I’ve been missing running so, I’m gonna try to find a way to fit that back into my schedule. Probably not running outside but absolutely on the treadmill.

Since I am still working on finishing the chicken thighs I made, I prepped on Itaki with that and the other with beef cubes and bok choy. Due to the way my schedule shook out today, I feel like I ate these meals WAY too close together. I had lunch around 1:30 and dinner at 5:30-ish and by the end of dinner, I felt like a rolly-polly overstuffed turkey. It was uncomfortable but honestly, it’s better than before the Saxenda where I’d come home from work on a late night and be starving. I kinda miss those late night visits to Taco Bell but, it’s better all around if I avoid that. And fast food makes me sick most of the time now…

Today’s Workout: Let’s Try a New Thing

wp-17236520920707007688841094020409

As I’m working my way through my ARCs and the books piled on my desk; I’m still using the desk peddler and let me tell you, I am feeling it in my legs. I switch my focus from my calves to my thighs and it makes a difference. I feel so sore walking around the rest of the day.

I decided to get some precut meat (yeah, all the computer use, needlework, and writing has made my hands and arms sore) and these were pork strips, which I can’t recall using before. They didn’t turn out too bad but I probably won’t use them again unless I have a craving specifically for pork. I just like beef or chicken better. I also tried to use less soy sauce in the marinade and nah, it needs the amount I usually use when the noodles and vegetables come in to play. It’s the lower sodium kind so adding water just makes everything taste bland to me.

Workout and Food Catch Up.

I’m still sticking with the desk peddler these days because I can do other things while doing it and I’m trying to get my thigh muscles to grow. I have lost a few more pounds (back down to 210) and that means lose skin in places. Since I am broke and will likely never get skin surgically removed, I’ll have to fill in the gaps with muscles.

That pasta sauce is made with diced up summer squash and zucchini because I get so damn many of them in my CSA box, it’s impossible for me to eat in my usual way, which is the other picture. That’s sliced and steamed with some asparagus risotto that I will not even pretend I made myself. It’s frozen from Trader Joe’s and reheated in my Itaki box. Steaming to reheat things is so much better than the microwave. I really like it and I’m tempted to get the Itaki pot to reheat things like the pasta. Also, I made a HUGE pot of that sauce and I’m so glad it turned out good. I froze the rest to use later but I’m gonna have to come up with another way to use these veggies up if I keep getting so many of them every week. There’s only so much pasta I can eat.

Yes, I already thought of making bread. And chips. I’ll have to see about that because I am trying not to use the oven during the summer.

Today’s Workout: Some Itaki Fun! And fennel?

wp-1721696463000563028362773977708

I’m still doing the stationary bike but this week, I’m up to the 1.8 dose of my Saxenda. It’s interesting working my life around when the drug will send me sprinting to the bathroom but, I’m managing. I don’t feel guilty pausing a workout to do so then getting back to it.

wp-17216964958505422667358859990650

Over the weekend, I got some interesting things in my CSA box. They seem to be flush with summer squash and zucchini  but on Friday I got some fennel. Which I have never eaten. I got some salmon and just sliced it and baked it with the rest of the vegetables. The kid didn’t like it but I think it was good! It paired well with the other vegetables and the fish (that I got from Trader Joe’s, not the CSA). I re-heated this in my fancy Itaki and it was fantastic. Not too much of a fishy smell and that spicy garlic seasoning goes well with the whole dish.

I have a while tray of these veggies to get through so, you’re gonna see these for awhile.
