Today’s Workout: I’m Blue

Ugh, I have not been motivated at all lately. I dunno what it is about the general public right now but I have been on the receiving end of some KAREN bullshit and it does not help with my general issues with depression and anxiety. I should not be made to feel nervous to do my damn job because some psycho decides to scream at me and call me names for no reason at all.

I know I should just let this shit wash over me but it’s mentally taxing to deal with this stuff. I thought we’d have an easier time once masks became voluntary but nope; people find something else to flip out over…

I think I need to take some actual vacation time to be home and decompress for a week or so. The desk peddler isn’t high intensity enough to give the happy feel good hormones. I should probably go back to running very soon; even though my sales still aren’t where I need them to be. I need to work out this stress.

Today’s Workout: Grand Aspirations

I had it in my head that I was gonna get all this stuff done today, get all my comics in my pile read, finish all my journals at work, write all the words and… I read one manga while peddling after doing a bunch of ordering for work. I managed to write while I was on the desk during a downpour (since nobody was in the library) but it wasn’t nearly the word count I was hoping for and what I finished was kinda aimless, to be honest.

But I had my coffee. That’s the most important. Because I have like… 10 bags of coffee floating around the house? Yeah, I may be broke as a joke but if I have a chance to get coffee on sale or Elvira, Vincent Price, Korn, or Beetlejuice themed coffee; my bisexual, closet goth self is gonna fucking buy it, okay? It’s why I have all these points sites so I can get these things for free or nearly free. I don’t have many joys, let me have this!

Ahem… Anyway.

I pushed to 45 minutes and I’ve begun to do some body-weight exercises before bed. Some leg lifts, arm lifts, chest presses, and tricep kickbacks. Since it’s without weights, I do as many reps as I can stand in a set, rest my arms while I do my legs, then do my arms again. I did this last night and my arms were burning and remained sore the next day. I’m gonna keep doing that every night to build up my muscles. Friday will be doctor appointment and chore day (I’m still processing my first mammogram which is a trauma dump I’m not ready to put on my blog yet) so, it’s gonna be the type of day where I may not have time for cardio that’s separate from preparing to work all weekend; cleaning my work clothes and prepping food so I don’t order or hit a drive through like I usually do when I do overtime.

Oh, and I did make good on my goal to stretch more. I have a stretching app on my phone and I remember a few things from my days in dancing school and karate classes. It’s helping in my post workout recovery so I’m sore the next day, but not so much that I can’t keep up my activity in the coming days.

Don’t worry, I’ve taken rest days into account. I don’t tend to workout on weekends other than my squats, especially if I’m working all weekend. I’m usually just burnt out and want to go to bed. I haven’t been taking much OT for that reason. I’d rather try and sell more needlework; which I will be posting soon!

Today’s Workout: Bad Timing

I was asked to make a gift that needed to be mailed right away so, of course I pick a 90 degree day to walk to the post office on my lunch break. It was NOT fun but once I’d cooled off and actually eaten, I felt ok!

I’ll post what I made once the package gets to it’s destination but I do have a few items to add to my shop that I’ll be posting very soon. And I have plenty of reviews to make up for so the blog will be poppin.

Dahlia 3 has gone through the final red pen stage and I’ll be posting the first two parts on Patreon once they’re polished and as soon as I know a release date, I’ll let you guys know.

Today’s Workout: Almost missed them…

I had downloaded a bunch of ARCs and somehow I completely forgot I had them. They were about to expire today so, I read those while I did my peddler today. I managed to read them just in time but I have more to get to in the next week. I’ll post them after I get back from my first mammogram tomorrow.

Getting old is the pits. All these frikkin scans and shit. I know it’s to keep myself healthy but my need to interact with as few people as possible on my days off is clashing with the much needed human meat bag maintenance every person needs to do. It’s like that Tiktok meme of taking a walk for your stupid mental health. I’ll do it but I’ll be grumpy about it.

Today’s Workout: Numbers Update

I spoke to my doctor about my blood test results, where my bad cholesterol was up, B12 was low, and the liver levels were off. My doctor wasn’t too concerned since usually my numbers are so good and just said to work on lowering my cholesterol and the rest would probably sort itself out. She did give me a B12 shot and recommend a stomach scan just to make sure everything is all good.

So, I’ll be doing more workouts and weight work while I eat more salads and fish. I honestly have been eating mostly chicken and beef and haven’t had a nice slab of salmon in a long time. I used to eat that at least once a week. I have my appointment in a few months for another test and I’m hoping I’ll be 10-20 pounds lighter and have impressive numbers again!

Today’s Workout: Google Books?

While I was using my desk peddler, I was thinking of other places where I could sell my work and a post in one of the many writing groups I’m in reminded me that Google has a self publishing platform. I don’t know why I never did so before but I’m going to set up an account there; since D2D doesn’t partner with Google.

But as for this workout and the fact I’ve been pretty good about doing 50 squats at least once a day, my legs are the best kind of sore. I know I seem to be pretty focused on cardio and lower body with only a few minutes on upper body but I am trying to get my stomach trimmed down. Yes, the long range goal is to be healthy and strong but while I was cleaning out old clothes to ship to ThreadUp, I saw a bunch of summer dresses that are so fucking cute and I would LOVE to be able to fit into them and wear them out and about. Perhaps it’s shallow but there’s also the element of I already spent money on clothes I’m not wearing and that bothers me.

Tomorrow I discuss my blood work results with my doctor and I’ll be honest that I’d gotten the results from the lab on my own and already made a bunch of dietary and activity changes. I also have my first mammogram this week! Yay… Gotta love getting older…

Today’s Workout: Filling in the Blanks

There are so many reviews I have to type up and books I need to read that I sat back and worked on both while I was pedaling today. And this time, I felt my heart rate go up and I was breathing faster so nothing like my previous workouts for this week. I was WORKING. My muscles are burning!

I went extra hard since I had noodles with my lunch today and that’s a lot of extra calories (and salt). I know it’s not the healthiest way to see things; balancing out a non-healthy food with a workout but in terms of sheer calories in versus calories out, this is better.

Later I’ll still be doing my squats and maybe some weights. Absolutely going to have a light dinner after work since I had the ramen. With the Saxenda, there just isn’t room for much after such a big lunch. And I plan to treat myself to an end of the week beer because something about the last 5 days has been exhausting and I deserve a treat.

Today’s Workout: Meh…

wp-1652721184588I had all these hopes for a productive day today and I was just not feelin it. I sat here for 30 minutes deciding whether or not to even post today even with the blank page up right in front of me. It’s a special kind of tired/unmotivated to have the thing open right there and still wanting to say fuck it and post later. But it’s gonna thunderstorm so, I want to get this posted before the power possibly goes out.

I was obviously distracted while I was doing the bike today and I was watching the clock. I was able to get my cardio in but it was an absolute chore. I’m glad I didn’t skip but ugh, what a slog…

Today’s Workout and Cooking Day.

Since I had the time (and I forgot to do it yesterday) I took the bones from the turkey and set up a pot to make broth. The lemon and lime flavor made it so good I was tempted to drink that for dinner but I’d rather save it to make some soup.

“But Lenni, why are you making soup when June is just around the corner?”

Honestly, they keep the air conditioning so high at work that a warm lunch is perfect to take with me. Mixing in some noodles and turkey meat (I froze what I didn’t eat so far) sounds like something worth trying out. I have made chicken noodle soup with chicken broth I made and it worked out well.

Since I invested so much time in cardio, I decided the kettle bell was best for today. I did this, 50 squats, and some stretching. I figure going up and down the stairs tending to the broth for several hours while cleaning was enough cardio for me.

Since I’m obviously not going to have just broth for dinner, I baked some chicken thighs marinated in lime and lemon juice. There’s black garlic and the citrus seasoning from Trader Joe’s. There’s lemon and Tajin on the cabbage and onion. I threw on the cherry tomatoes because… I forgot they were in the fridge and were gonna go bad.

I think we all know that feeling of buying healthy ingredients with the best of intentions only for them to wither away uneaten. I’m the worst with that when it comes to fruit. I get it thinking I’ll be all virtuous and such only to end up throwing them out. That’s why I didn’t make bacon mac and cheese like I wanted to. I’ve been wanting to make that again.

Today’s Workout: Triple Threat

In addition to using the under desk peddler, I had to walk up to the store to get hot sauce (my kid is obsessed) and some sesame oil (that’s getting expensive so not buying that for awhile…), I picked up the kettle bell after a super light dinner. My only cheat was a small portion of Tipsy Scoop for dessert. Raspberry Limoncello Sorbet, if you’re curious. Very nice as a cap to the evening.

I am really feeling these arm workouts. I think I’m back in the head space where the soreness is letting me know I’m doing a good thing for my body. The sad part is I’d skipped weight training for so long, I have a moment where I think “Wait, why am I sore again?” before my stupid brain makes the logistical leap.

All I need to do is my 50 squats and stretch before bed and the day is done! I have the feeling with more days like this I’ll get back on track.
