Today’s Workout: Salad all day

wp-1690916544600

I had a webinar about some awesome graphic novels coming soon so, I decided to be on the peddler while I watched it. I had to slow down at a few points to actually look up and order some titles but it was a good ride.

Apparently, I was really feeling some salad today. I had some leftover lettuce and onion from yesterday’s wrap so I added some tuna to make it more filling. I also had one more burger patty from yesterday’s dinner. I chopped it up and split it with the kid. I made myself a taco salad and the child had beef with broccoli. I seem to be on a salad kick and that’s probably because I don’t want to cook much in the summer. Well, more like I want to cook but turning the oven on is the last thing I want to do. I may have to bring out the slow cooker so I have some variety.

Today’s Workout: Folded Burger?

wp-1690843273479

I’m continuing with the desk bike for now while it’s still hot. Which is funny since my office is always cold and it warms me up. Now that Camp NaNoWriMo is over, I can get more steps in my day to add to my activity.

For lunch I had leftover Chinese but for dinner, I tried my hand at that tortilla hack again this time making a burger type thing. I still overfilled it a bit but it didn’t completely fall apart like the last time I made it. And the child enjoyed it! I used a whole wheat tortilla and a few almond slices in there. Did I need bacon? No, but I wanted it and it was delicious. It’s a fun little thing to do and I can see why people do it. I bet I could make a killer breakfast this way.

Today’s Workout: Summer Slump

wp-1689625271730

Ugh, I am so over summer. The even in the air conditioning, the humidity is just miserable. I have a major case of the dunwannas just all the time. It’s taking way too much effort to get motivated these days.

Even though I’m not feeling motivated, I did get up early enough to make myself some breakfast. I’m gonna have to make this a regular habit as not only did I not feel faint or anything, I didn’t feel like I was starving once lunch rolled around. Same goes with dinner; which had some spinach in my normal salad to get some extra iron. I am taking a multivitamin with extra omega 3 as my doctor advised as well. All of this work isn’t just about losing weight, it’s about staying healthy as I age. The last thing I want is to end up barely mobile and on a bunch of meds.

Today’s Workout: A long one

wp-1686241362404

This walk was longer since my nerdy ass wanted to get in some Pokemon Go before I walked up to the grocery store. Yes, I still play, let me have some joy in the hellscape of a world we live in.

wp-1686241317357

This time I added some sardines to change it up from tuna. It’s still a while before I get my bloodwork done again and see about those triglycerides but I’m still eating my good fats (as you can see the avocado in there) and I just thought radishes would be nice.

I promise not just weight loss stuff will get posted soon. I am thinking about doing Camp NaNoWriMo in July so, if there’s a series you’ve read from me that you’d like me to continue, feel free to drop a comment.

Today’s Workout: Not quite…

wp-1684938285369

I decided to take a lunch walk today and it’s not quite the weather to go outside without a sweater. Not that I want it to be super hot; I loathe the heat. By the time I was done, I’d warmed up pretty good and I managed to score some veggies on sale.

wp-1684938357390

For lunch I gave these garlic noodles a try. They were not good. They were overly sweet yet somehow tasteless at the same time. It’s a shame but I ended up tossing it without finishing it all.

wp-16849383567947182134620617660100

For dinner, I was craving a chicken Caesar salad. I used the grilled lemon pepper chicken from Trader Joe’s that comes already cooked and it was so good. Much better than the noodles. Combined, it was a high salt day, but I am a very hydrated person so I didn’t bloat too much. I was even able to get the cheese for this on sale! Hey, I’m broke so, I’ll take whatever savings I can get.

Today’s Workout: Time Change

wp-1683833655882

They changed the hours so I come in an hour later than usual and I already don’t like it. I was going to do the desk peddler during a webinar but the new hours mean I missed the webinar. Yet another reason why they should have just left well enough alone.

For lunch I made that sandwich again but this time I didn’t go as heavy on the onion and added sliced avocado. I also mixed the meats; roast beef and turkey. It was interesting. I would probably make that again. Another drawback of the new hours is these two meals are too close together and I felt overfull. I need to try and eat either before I leave for work or on the way to work to avoid that. Also, I am almost out of those noodles and I have a healthier alternative as a replacement. Shaving a few calories off of a big meal like that couldn’t hurt.

Today’s Workout: Poor Brunswick…

wp-1682547799740

Well, this mission was kind of a downer. I won’t spoil it but yeah, was sad. Either way, I still managed to run the full 10 minute intervals without taking any extra breaks. I kept reminding myself that during lockdown, I was doing c210k and did 20 minute intervals so 10 shouldn’t be an issue and I shouldn’t give up. I’m not sure if I’ll do the 10k training again because the workouts are really fucking long as the you go through the plan and that was easy to do during lockdown because if I had a webinar or something, I could throw on my headphones and be on the treadmill at the same time. Between single mom things and my side hustle things, I don’t have time for workouts that are an hour or more. Maybe if more of my books are selling and my adsense goes up but for now, that’s not in the cards.

wp-1682615954333wp-1682615954349

For lunch I did the beef and steamed veggies again. I think after I’m out of the ramen noodles, I won’t buy anymore to cut down on some carbs.

Dinner had to be lighter to balance out lunch. I still have some lamb left but I’ll eat that another day. That’s romaine, scallions, and avocado with tuna. I finally remembered to plant the butts of the veggies to grow my own and try and save some money. Lettuce of various types, onions, and scallions are the most popular in my house and it would be amazing for my budget to have them on hand in the garden containers. I would like to try some cucumbers and tomatoes but, we’ll see what I have time for.

Today’s Workout: Food Drop

wp-1682346811512

I did lower my speed a bit today since I was feeling sore but it was a good run. I stuck to the intervals and had decent posture. I’m a little annoyed that TLCGo no longer works for me and locked all the content but that’s ok. I started watching Breaking Bad instead.

Over the weekend, I made some pizza (really happy I got that bread machine) and I ate the last of that for lunch. Dinner was me trying to replicate a gyro platter and it turned out pretty good! I wasn’t able to cut the really thin strips but I think I nailed the taste. I didn’t get super home crafty and make the naan and my seeds aren’t any where near the point where I can eat veggies I grew myself but it was tasty and I have plenty of leftovers for tomorrow. Maybe I’ll pack a cute lunch again.

Today’s Workouts: Pushing it

wp-1680733354467wp-1680742436804

I wanted to get in a run at least once this week and keep on the schedule in the Ultrahuman app for this three week challenge. My arms are still sore from the first day (I can’t tell you how much pushups annoy me. They’re almost as bad as burpees) but I committed to this so I’m doing it.

For lunch I had time to prep the Itaki food and I’m still working on all those delicious chicken wings. I put them in the oven to crisp up while I was on the treadmill and by the time I was showered, they were perfect. I probably should have had some veggies with them but I had some editing to do and wanted to get to it before my brain turned off.

As for the Ultrahuman app, apparently I need the app on my watch as well and my watch is not supported yet. I’ll keep checking but I’ll have to rely on GoogleFit for insights for now. I was hoping for more feedback on when I eat and how it affects my workouts but we’ll see.

Today’s Workout: New Recipe

wp-1680215956368

Since I had some salmon I wanted to eat, I was searching around for a recipe to also use some avocado along with it and found this recipe. Of course I find it at work while the salmon is defrosting at home so, the plan became to let the fish marinate while I was doing the above run. By the time I’d finished, cooled down, and taken a shower, the fish would be ready cook!

The soup was my lunch. And the smaller bowl is mine, the bigger one was for the kid.

Of course I had to put my own spin on it by adding chopped garlic to the top of the fish, some sliced onion, and Trader Joe’s Furikake seasoning. All non-sponsored links, of course. This meal was bowl-lickin good. I’ll have to prepare better in advance in the future but WOW. The salmon was perfect, the crunch of the cucumbers and onion was a perfect balance to the soft avocado (which is a sensory nightmare for me). I put some lime juice on the veggies and to keep the avocado from turning brown. I wasn’t getting sick of the usual steamed meat and veggies but I did want more variety in my meals, still be healthy, and not make too much work for myself. Things that require a lot of work to cook mean I’m doing that instead of running on the treadmill. If I prep properly ahead of time, I’ll be able to add more healthy meals to my rotation.
