Today’s Workout: Preparations

While I’m working the stationary bike for now, I feel the urge to get on that treadmill again. I may restart c25k, I’m not sure but I want more movement. Something that gets the heart pumping more than the desk peddler. I’ve been rethinking how to prep dinners and such to make sure I still have time to write, blog, and do needlework. That’s the one great thing about the desk bike; I can multitask.

This was one of those weeks where I bought food with the best of intentions then ended up forgetting about things. I still have a problem eating enough fruit (or any fruit, actually) and I bought some oranges but I keep forgetting to eat them. My kid will eat them but, somewhere between the thought “Don’t forget to grab an orange” and packing my lunch, I forget to grab the damn orange. At least lunch and dinner went to plan…

“Today’s” Workouts: Just a couple more days

I’m taking my time recovering from NYCC. It’s a LOT of walking and I just don’t think it’d be a good idea to rush back into running. Next week maybe but it’s gonna be busy so, I’m not sure.

After NYCC, I made a bunch of veggies and some steak and I’ve been picking at it since. The winter squash turned out pretty good! I don’t usually eat those but, I found it enjoyable to eat with just a bit of salt and pepper. I’ve been using my Itaki but soup/stew/chili season is upon us and I’m gonna need to think of a way to reheat that without the microwave. It’s so frustrating to think it’s heated through and hit that cold spot in the middle. It’s jarring and unappetizing, leading to more time in the microwave that turns the whole thing into lava. I’m sure I’ll find something to make this easier.

Now, I’m gonna take the weekend off from working out at all since I have a TON of house work and writing to do. And overtime to work. I’m sure that will be plenty of steps.

Today’s Workout: A Little Much

wp-17291227427055394450536277861737I decided to do the bike earlier today. I had an appointment with a patron that went very well (almost too well? I’m not used to good things happening) but I was still doing other work while biking. I can’t help but multitask. I have a problem. This is why my hands hurt all the time.

I thought I didn’t need breakfast when I got up but once I got to work, I felt peckish. I keep some of the Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Biscotti at my desk for just such occasions. For lunch, I had the Itaki and dinner was a half chicken from Butcher Box and the last of the roasted vegetables. I am not the biggest fan of Butcher Box’s pre-prepped options. The chicken tasted a little too spicy for me and I think I would have been happier with something I made myself. It was kinda… Oily? And I didn’t add any oil when I cooked it. The kid liked it but they love spicy things. To the point where I’ve had to deliberately not buy things like Takis for the sake of my plumbing.

Tomorrow is the first day of NYCC. My diet and activity will be chaotic for the duration, I can assure you. I don’t tend to eat at the con unless my kid is with me because I don’t enforce my eating habits on my kid and the food there is damn expensive. I don’t even ask my job to reimburse me; almost like a punishment for being dumb enough to get swindled. I’ll try to keep updated here but I make no promised. I am technically working. We’ll see.

Today’s Workout: Tuna

wp-17290311158653540806525316181876I was using the Wirk peddler while I did some work (really enjoying ordering some cool stuff for the library) so, you can totally tell where I paused to lean closer to the screen and wasn’t peddling as fast. Burned calories are burned calories. This and the walk absolutely put me in a caloric deficit for the day.

Again, Kind bar for breakfast. Lunch was a way to use up some of the peppers that came in my CSA box. I probably should to easy on the tuna for awhile since this was two cans. Don’t judge me about dinner. I like crispy sausage. As for the vegetables, CSA box again. My kid doesn’t like cauliflower and I don’t mind loading up on that and letting them have the broccoli and most of the potatoes. I did have some for myself. I did break 1,000 calories but this time, I do feel over full. Probably too much salt but I like to think it was unhealthy? I think I did pretty good.

Today’s Workou: Your turn, Sweatcoin

With NYCC this week, I am not running. I don’t run on convention weeks because I will spend multiple days in a row on my feet and I don’t wanna chance messing up said feet before I go. So, regular walking and stationary bike it is.

Now, I have whined a lot about how Google Fit makes my steps vanish but I rarely talk about the other apps I use. Up on the chopping block today is Sweatcoin and their “boost” feature.

It was from my last run. I managed to snag it before it calculated what my bonus will be. Usually, I average 3k steps for a 30-minute run but as you can see, there’s my step count, right?

Aaaaand, here’s my bonus. As you can see, there are slightly less than 2600 steps. I can understand adjusting for people who just shake their phones to get steps but come on. That’s just rediculous.

I’m still into the Kind bars for breakfast. I’m not gonna keep taking pics of them. That’s boring. For lunch, I brought my leftover steak, potatoes, and baked veggies and for dinner, I had a craving for tuna and pasta. I like it with olive oil and lemon juice like a salad. I’m off the Saxenda right now because I am NOT chancing the side effects kicking in while I’m in the middle of a convention center or on the train. Noooooo way. I did eat a little more than while on the medication but still around the 1200 mark. Not too terrible. I think it was a good day.

Today’s Workout: Maaaaaaagic!

I’ll get back to that other series eventually but in the meantime, I started this one just so I can get a run in before work. I was nervous about this one. It’s week 5 day 3 of c25k which is just one long 20 minute run. I was hoping to get though it without any breaks and I did! It wasn’t too hard and the only thing that bugged me is not trusting myself to take a drink of water mid run without spilling it all over me and the treadmill. I just took my time, kept breathing, and made it through.

I had something important this afternoon at work that I was really nervous about so, I had more of a snack for lunch than an actual meal. I dunno if it went well. I’d like to block it outta my mind until I know either way. I’m out of steak for the time being (and soy sauce) so, chicken it is! The bok choy this week was meh; looked big but mostly stem and wilty leaves. I think I need to come up with another vegetable I can use for these meals instead of that or broccoli. I’ll have to see. There are plenty of Itaki recipes out there.

Today’s Workout: Complete!

Ah, it’s so satisfying to see all the missions in the main story checked off. While I have plenty of other missions and I actually pay for this app, I’m not going to shell out any more money for the Marvel missions or anything like that. There’s a limit to how much I’m willing to pay even though I love this app.

I didn’t get the chance to eat breakfast but since my child clearly wasn’t going to eat the expensive steak I bought and made for them, I snagged it for myself. I already ranted about food waste. I’ll try not to do it again. I bought broccoli and forgot to bake it with the potatoes so, I used it for my Itaki. At the end of the day, it felt like a LOT of food but since it was my late night, it was good enough that I wasn’t feeling snacky when I got home. And it was probably a good thing to not overdo it on the chocolate croissants.

Today’s Workout: Almost done.

wp-17266120077218432757227621938092

When I set up this workout, I saw that I’m only one more mission away from completing season 10. I mean, there are is not a shortage of other missions I can do in this app but the main story is so damn compelling. I can’t wait to see what they do next.

Breakfast was my croissant and lunch was the leftover steak and potatoes. Dinner was some more leftover takeout. It’s basically leftovers day. I don’t mind that at all. When a meal is good, I am willing to eat it more than once. And I abhor wasting food. It was drilled into me at a young age that wasting food might as well be a sin and while I’m not a Christian anymore, it’s certainly a fucking sin to my wallet. The news says food prices are going down but until my paycheck triples, it still feels like a physical blow to throw good food away. Not to mention all the work it takes me to cook. Oh, and the take out was a quarter of a pulled pork quesadilla and spicy salsa. Absolutely delicious.

Today’s Workout: “Overwhelmed?”

wp-17265266031363320296150212026552

It’s funny how someone can observe me and say I appear overwhelmed, yet when I ask for help, I get attitude and impatience. Like it takes moving mountains to preheat the oven before I get home. I still managed to get everything done but it took longer and left less time to try and do any writing before bed. At least I was able to edit some so, the new chapter for Patreon should be up soon.

Since my clearly overwhelmed self didn’t get any help with dishes, I wasn’t able to make something from home for lunch and opted for a tuna sandwich on a bagel that also gifts me a 20 minute walk to go get it. How that and my run didn’t net me 10k steps is wild but eh, that’s not the goal for the day. For dinner, I made steak and potatoes; the potatoes bake while I’m running and by the time my shower was done, perfect taters and plenty for leftovers tomorrow. I did treat myself to a can of cider because as far as I’m concerned, when the Fall ciders and beers come out, it’s Fall. And I love trying out the new items.

Today’s Workouts: SPINE

Since the dishes were left overnight (ugggghhhh), it was easy for me to get up early to make sure the dishwasher was running before I went to run myself. I’m still using C25K as a guide and decided that maybe I’ll go to C210K after this. We’ll see because those workouts are LONG. Fitting those into the day is hard. I had no problem with them when we were in lockdown and I was working from home. I get an hour lunch so a 45 min run is no biggie since there’s no commute and if I don’t have time to shower, nobody’s around to care. Now I spend a good chunk of the day out of the house. I dunno. I’ll see when/if I get there. And I did the stationary peddler later on in the day. My thighs were wobbly but, so worth it.

Since I was up, I had another one of those awesome croissants for breakfaste and finally tried out the black tea concentrate I bought. I really like it. I tend to favor unsweetened tea anyway and it was so damn refreshing after my workout. All the dishes were finished, I prepped a salad to bring for lunch and my usual Itaki dinner. I tried out a new brand of sardines with the salad and, I gotta say, I have the weirdest “icks” about food. I like to eat sardines but seeing the tail on and the spine of the fish coming out while I ate freaked me the fuck out. There’s just… a SPINE there! And I’ve eaten whole fish around the bones before. I dunno why in THIS particular instance it bothered me but, it turned the entire meal into like, a pill I needed to take. Not gross but not great either. There’s a reason I usually stick with tuna or grilled chicken/steak in my salads. Less likely to encounter surprise spines.
