Today’s Workout: Wait, what?

I went to do the next mission in Negative Space and turns out it’s not a running mission. It would have been great to know that ahead of time seeing as how I was on the treadmill already but I probably didn’t look close enough. It’s fine; I just used Radio Able instead.

Truth be told, that sandwich wasn’t on the menu today. I’m just showing off that I remembered to put arugula on it this time instead of forgetting it in the bowels of my refrigerator again. As you can see, the Kind bars were on sale again so those make a convenient breakfast. I had my usual Itaki for lunch and dinner was a really satisfying salad. I hadda put that crouton in the middle like that. It amused me way too much. Just this slab of a crouton sitting there. I guess I’m easily entertained.

Today’s Workout: Iiinnn Spaaccee

This mission has an Aliens feel with the synthetic humans and such. I like it! I’m a sucker for good scifi. As for the run itself, it was touch and go towards the end because my arm hurts (I’m getting some bad carpal tunnel… Really not fun) but my arm isn’t what I use to run. I just told myself to get over it. This will be my last workout of the week, other than some walking, since I have so many damn chores to do and editing to get done. I guess my biggest challenge will be finding the chance to actually rest my hand.

As it was my late day, I had to prep lunch and dinner so, I made some steak and rice to go with the tray of roasted vegetables I’d made earlier in the week. I’m trying to have more variety in what I eat and lean into protein and vegetables. Basically whatever I get in my farm share box, I bake and put into my rotation. Even though my kid doesn’t like it, I do. I think it’s interesting to eat all these new things.

Today’s Workout: Small victories

wp-17277355827255356006819052631600

I’ve been complaining that the scale isn’t moving for awhile now but, when I got on the scale this morning, I noticed that my body fat percentage has gone from in the 40’s a few months ago to 34%. That’s so much better and closer to what Google says is recommended for a woman my age. I may not be skinny, but I’m healthier than I used to be. I still need to do more weight training. I don’t do it often enough; maybe twice a week as opposed to cardio that I do 4-5 times a week.

I don’t have pictures of food this time because I honestly didn’t feel like taking them. It’s all the same thing anyway so, what’s the point? Unless I do something impressive or you guys really wanna see them?

At any rate, this was a good run. I like this side mission. This app really does a good job taking the characters from the main story and putting them in the most random situations. I don’t pay for the extra Marvel parts of the app. If anyone does, tell me if it’s worth doing if you’re only a passive Marvel fan.

Today’s Workout: This is probably a mistake

wp-17150350652117889624668636536293

Way back, I did a 30 day challenge. I think it was during quarantine when I was working from home where I decided to do 30 minutes of cardio every day for 30 days straight. In the end, I felt stronger, lost weight, and decided I hated it. So, in my infinite wisdom, I look at my phone and see there’s 160-ish days till NYCC. Unlike last year, my planned cosplay is actually modest but I do plan to reuse last year’s for the first two days and it would be nice if it fit better than it did last year. To try and make that happen, why not do a 100 day challenge?

Because clearly, I hate myself and need to punish me.

What better way to kick things off than to continue C25K (week 5). I am still on Saxenda for the time being and after my last blood tests from the doctor, I’ve doubled my vitamins but my plan is 30 minutes of cardio every day in some form for 100 days straight and some sort of body weight or kettlebell or resistance bands 3-4 times a week.

After today’s workout, I am already achy and sore. Probably because I’d spent all my energy last week cleaning, organizing, decluttering, and dealing with various replacements and repairs for my home and car. Oh, and the dentist. Nothing like having some guy drilling in your mouth for over an hour, get no enjoyment out of it, then have to go back once the new bridge is ready. I’m not prone to migraines at all but I sure had one that day…

Anyway, day one in the books. This is going to suck.

Today’s Workout: Week 4 something, something

wp-17138257524027784748735380275148

With my kid gone for the week, I’m trying to run after work again. Since the Saxenda makes it so I don’t feel hungry right when I get home, I went to run first then felt a little peckish afterwards. After that, I’ll make something for dinner. I tell ya, the 5 minute interval was tough but I’ve done longer intervals and I’ll get used to this again. I just have to go back to being that annoying person who stops life until I can workout since it’s important for me to keep it up.

After my Itaki lunch, I made myself a salad after my workout. I remembered to use the cucumber I bought but forgot the radishes… I hope I remember them next time because I did a clean out of the fridge and I was so pissed at how much food I’d had to throw out because my kid was all “Of course I’ll eat it” and had someone order Chipotle for him behind my back. Then he’ll complain I don’t cook for him… Then when I do, he’ll brag I should open a restaurant but won’t finish the food. Teenagers don’t make sense!!!

Today’s Workout: Scheduling

wp-17064595238844272044630351845465

After concluding I just don’t have the energy to run after work anymore, I thought doing it on my days off would work better. Instead of sleeping in, I got up and got on the treadmill before starting any chores. I restarted C25K and it felt good to be running again. It’s the best way for me to burn as many calories as possible.

I didn’t take any photos of my food but to run it down, I had some leftover pizza for lunch and made salmon, rice, and broccoli for dinner. And there’s plenty left to pack for tomorrow. I also got a bunch of cleaning done and found a bunch of books to donate to the library. Little by little, I’ll get rid of all the clutter.

Today’s Workout: Switching it up

wp-1699358885678

Yeah, I’m not having much luck working out after work. I have been too tired and end up skipping it. And I don’t think the peddler is intense enough to be relying on it as my sole cardio. So, I’m trying to get up early three times a week and running before I go to work. It’s a long day but it’s worth it to get in the run, clean up real quick, then head off to deal with the rest of my day. And I’m using Zombies Run and c25k to keep track of my time and intervals.

A big part of running in the morning is preparing my lunch the night before. So, while I was making dinner (that first picture with the swordfish) I prepped my food for the Itaki. I also had time to make some breakfast but on the Saxenda, all that was way too much food. Dinner came around and the thought of eating anything else made me feel sick. I need to have something lighter in the morning, even though a bagel with egg is so comforting after a run.

By the way, that swordfish was delicious. I marinated it in olive oil and lemon juice and pan fried it with olive oil, butter, and whole garlic cloves. If I get a decent deal on it again, I’ll absolutely buy some more.

Today’s Workout: Poor Brunswick…

wp-1682547799740

Well, this mission was kind of a downer. I won’t spoil it but yeah, was sad. Either way, I still managed to run the full 10 minute intervals without taking any extra breaks. I kept reminding myself that during lockdown, I was doing c210k and did 20 minute intervals so 10 shouldn’t be an issue and I shouldn’t give up. I’m not sure if I’ll do the 10k training again because the workouts are really fucking long as the you go through the plan and that was easy to do during lockdown because if I had a webinar or something, I could throw on my headphones and be on the treadmill at the same time. Between single mom things and my side hustle things, I don’t have time for workouts that are an hour or more. Maybe if more of my books are selling and my adsense goes up but for now, that’s not in the cards.

wp-1682615954333wp-1682615954349

For lunch I did the beef and steamed veggies again. I think after I’m out of the ramen noodles, I won’t buy anymore to cut down on some carbs.

IMG_20230426_190806295

Dinner had to be lighter to balance out lunch. I still have some lamb left but I’ll eat that another day. That’s romaine, scallions, and avocado with tuna. I finally remembered to plant the butts of the veggies to grow my own and try and save some money. Lettuce of various types, onions, and scallions are the most popular in my house and it would be amazing for my budget to have them on hand in the garden containers. I would like to try some cucumbers and tomatoes but, we’ll see what I have time for.

Today’s Workout: New Recipe

wp-1680215956368

Since I had some salmon I wanted to eat, I was searching around for a recipe to also use some avocado along with it and found this recipe. Of course I find it at work while the salmon is defrosting at home so, the plan became to let the fish marinate while I was doing the above run. By the time I’d finished, cooled down, and taken a shower, the fish would be ready cook!

The soup was my lunch. And the smaller bowl is mine, the bigger one was for the kid.

Of course I had to put my own spin on it by adding chopped garlic to the top of the fish, some sliced onion, and Trader Joe’s Furikake seasoning. All non-sponsored links, of course. This meal was bowl-lickin good. I’ll have to prepare better in advance in the future but WOW. The salmon was perfect, the crunch of the cucumbers and onion was a perfect balance to the soft avocado (which is a sensory nightmare for me). I put some lime juice on the veggies and to keep the avocado from turning brown. I wasn’t getting sick of the usual steamed meat and veggies but I did want more variety in my meals, still be healthy, and not make too much work for myself. Things that require a lot of work to cook mean I’m doing that instead of running on the treadmill. If I prep properly ahead of time, I’ll be able to add more healthy meals to my rotation.

Today’s Workout: Back to it!

wp-1679958707608

I’m back to C25K and Zombies Run and it felt pretty good! I felt a little cramping but I think that’s from taking that week off to do the peddler. My form felt strong, my breathing was fine; all in all an excellent run. Good start to the week.

Lunch was the usual but I ended up using whatever was left of the beef because I could tell it wasn’t going to last another day in the fridge. As a result, I ended up just having a little snack for dinner because I just wasn’t hungry. Unfortunately, I completely forgot about the abs app but I’ll try to remember for the rest of the week.
