Today’s Workout: Don’t Hurt Sam!!!

Yeah, part of the reason why I like running with this app so much is I am so invested in the story and strangely protective of Sam. I bet a lot of users love Sam and he should be protected at all costs. But to be on topic, this run was a little hard. I had more soreness than normal; which is to be expected given it’s that time of the month. Everything hurts more. I just power through it.

For lunch I didn’t have a chance to prep but I had some soup available. Dinner was a salad with tuna and I will admit, I think I ate too much. I was struggling to finish it. I had plenty of steps during the day, too. I had to get my taxes done so I was home earlier to do my run, eat dinner, and had plenty of time to wind down. Too bad I can’t leave early every day.

Today’s Workout: Temptation

I am so glad I picked up running again because out of the blue, the kid decides we need to buy pizza and I needed to burn that off. The rest of what I ate today was my normal type of lunch:

And over the weekend, I made an amazing sandwich:

I marinated the chicken in olive oil, lemon juice, and lemon pepper seasoning and just cooked it in a frying pan. I diced up red onion and mixed it with avocado (and more lemon juice) and as you can see, I had a bunch of cherry tomatoes that I needed to finish before they went bad. I had those as a side instead of chips. I still haven’t mastered what is apparently a daunting task of building a sandwich in a way that doesn’t fall apart if you look at it funny but even though it was a mess to eat, it was delicious. I think I would use a whole chicken breast next time instead of strips so there’s less chances of something falling out.

Over the weekend, I didn’t workout. I had overtime and I had to take apart the dryer hose to fix a blockage. That was not fun. I wasn’t really in the mood after dealing with that.

Today’s Workouts: Back to it!

wp-1677720462905

In addition to a quick 20 minute session on the desk peddler, I dusted off my running shoes and started C25K once again. I am super excited to get running again and it felt great. I was able to keep form and a decent pace for someone who hasn’t done it in awhile. I plan to do this at least three times a week like the C25K schedule goes and do the desk bike and weights on the other days.

These were my meals for the day. I just did not feel like having a salad at the end of the day and opted instead for pasta with tuna in lemon and olive oil. I have an overabundance of red onion right now so it was a little strong but, it was a light enough meal that I didn’t feel gross running shortly after.

For the record, I don’t have a problem with hydration. I drink plenty of water throughout the day. Soon, I will take the time to record my measurements and see if I can measure progress that way instead of the number on the scale.

Today’s Workout: Chases!

wp-1661207992369

That’s right! I’m back to Zombies Run! This time, with chases on. It only made me do one chase this time and it wasn’t so bad. I managed not to get caught and lose any supplies.

I can definitely tell it’s been awhile since I’ve had a good run and it felt great to get back in my running shoes. The only way to get used to it again is to get back into the habit of running at least three days a week just for 30 minutes because I have to get writing for the rest of the night.

It helps that with the Saxenda, I really only have a snack for dinner. If I eat breakfast, cook my lunch at work, then I’m not really that hungry when I get home. And I’m not about to force myself to eat if I’m not hungry.

I still have to do my stretches. I noticed some cramping in my calves when I was running; probably because of all the walking I did over the weekend so I NEED to stretch as much as I can. I’ll do the body weight stuff but only a light workout. I still wanna be able to move tomorrow.

Today’s Workout: Week 3 Day 3

After doing what I should do around my birthday, whatever I want, I’m back to my running! And since I haven’t given up on my desperate attempts to not lose my house by supplementing my dismal income by selling my writing, I put Shelley up on the teadmill and I was able to do a little bit of writing during the walking portions of c25k. I could only type with one hand since I have to hold the phone to count my steps on the app, but hey, any words cound as progress.

And you’re damn right I’m 41 and have stickers. Let me enjoy things.

Today’s Workout: Week 3 Day 1

I’m sad this story is over. After this run, I was futzing around with the app to see what missions I could do next and I guess I figure it out on the spot. There’s SO much I can do while I wait for the next season to drop.

As for the run itself, this week is when the workouts are shorter but the intervals are longer. The minimum number of miuntes for this episode was 31 minutes and the run for c25k was 28 minutes. I just walked the extra time instead of ending early. I didn’t see the point in wasting such a small amount of time.

Today’s Workout: Week 2 Day 2.

wp-1642636125532

This was a good run! I was in the zone, breathing was good, and no knee pain. I hate to jinx it but I’m looking forward to the longer runs. They take up more time in my already jam packed days but I think in the end it’s worth it.

Yeah, not much to say about this one. High fives all around!

Today’s Workout: Week One Day Two

wp-1640792451964

Noooo!! Season nine ends on a cliffhanger! I have no idea when the next season will be out and there are plenty of side missions I can do while I wait for the new episodes.

I’m still sticking to a max speed of 3.5 for now while I get used to running after such a long break from it. I would like to be able to run faster for long distances,

But I’m not going to break my body to do it. I’m all about pushing myself in small increments and attaining small victories. My victory now is just starting over instead of giving up. I want to be leaner and stronger as I’m not getting any younger and would like to ensure I have as many mobile years in my future as possible.

I’ve almost lost 20 pounds and have 30 to go. I did notice when slipping on my running gear that the pants are more loose than I remember. I do need to get more weight days in to get stronger so I am aware there’s bigger things than the number on the scale.

Today’s Workout: Restart.

wp-1640702536468

My job ended up having to close since so many people were out with COVID so, I figured I’d get back to work on my running by restarting c25k and running early in the morning before I get to writing.

It felt great to get moving again and I’m really going to try to get my writing done earlier in the day (when I go back to work) so I can run without guilt when I get home.

Yes, I have been exposed to COVID but obviously since I feel energetic enough to run, I don’t have symptoms but I’m keeping isolated just in case. There’s huge lines and shortages in testing right now so unless I feel sick, I’ll let higher risk people go get tested before I take up a spot.

As of now, I have no further weight loss updates since it hasn’t changed much one way or the other. I’ll post some numbers once there’s something to post about.

Today’s Workout: Making the most of lunch

wp-1629993425421.png

I didn’t have the chance to prep my lunch before I left for work so, I picked a place far off to get something to eat. It may have been a bagel with tuna (no mayo) and I know that’s a bunch of carbs but it was actually nice to be outside.

I don’t know if I’m in the place where I feel comfortable running outside again. Not in this heat for sure, but my main reasons for sticking to the treadmill were other people thinking they have a right to mock me while I’m running. Even if I feel good and I’m getting healthier, it’s disheartening to get teased. If you’re the type of person to do this, you’re not helping. If you think overweight people should go workout, maybe don’t laugh at them when they do.
