Today’s Workout: Do it early

I’ve been trying to get these sessions done early so I can spend the rest of the day on work. I’ve been making some great progress on my writing and keeping up with my reviews and I wanna keep up that momentum. My views are up and I’m hoping to publish more this year under both my pen names and make actual money.

I got some sumo oranges and I have actually been remembering to take them for breakfast in the morning. I don’t care if it looks cluttered to keep a box of oranges by the front door, I can’t miss them and always grab on to shove in my lunch box. Lunch has shifted over to bok choy again for a bit since it was on sale and dinner was… Certainly a thing I ate… That I chewed and swallowed… Okay, it was gross. I threw out half of it. Probably for the best since the whole container is over 500 calories. I wasn’t all that hungry anyway so, I’ll just take the loss on that one.

Today’s Workout: More Food Prep Experiments

I think I’m doing pretty well with the biking. 40 minutes is a reasonable length I can pull off during a webinar or something and luckily nobody minds if I do the peddler as long as I get my work done. In fact, most of the people I work with think it’s a fantastic idea. I still need to do more body weight work but, I’ll get there. It’s fine.

I finally fucking remembered to bring an orange for lunch! Geez, they’re right there in the damn kitchen in my face. You’d think it wouldn’t be that hard. But aside for that, I decided to give green beans a try in the Itaki and holy shit, it was amazing! The meat I used was a wagyu beef patty that I just broke up and let sit in the sauce till lunch time and I’ve also enjoyed putting some sliced up ginger in the meal. It gives a nice little punch that I like. For dinner, I was so damn tired that I just grabbed a portion of the pulled pork I’d made from the freezer and had that with some rice. Fast and simple was the name of the game by the end of the day.

Today’s Workout: Small Improvements

I don’t wanna talk about the orange… I sincerely hope I can get to them before they grow mold. I will be so pissed if I have to throw a lot of them out. As for the workout, it was pretty standard. I’m still using the desk peddler and that’s okay for now. My total steps for the day are up – from averaging 3,000 per day to 4-5,000 a day – and I see that as a win.

Over the weekend, I made a whole chicken and potatoes. My kid didn’t like the potatoes and made himself some rice, which I added to my lunch. For dinner, I had a salad because I was kinda feeling like one and the tuna was some added protein. The Itaki didn’t quite warm the potatoes all the way through. Or I was just impatient because I was hungry. Either way, I don’t think potatoes are viable for this type of meal and I’m gonna play around with some other options.

Today’s Workout: Okay, maybe not preparing?

My heartrate wasn’t as high as it normally would be because I wasn’t as focused. I was talking with my friends at the same time but, I still kept my legs moving. As for the title, I made the appointment with a podiatrist to have my strange toenails addressed and likely have them removed for good. Not to be gross but, some of my toes aren’t normal and the nail bed causes the nail to grow straight down into my skin. 43-year-old me has no problem making sure they don’t do that. I can get to my feet no problem. 53 or 63-year-old me may not and being a fan of The Toe Bro (I’d like the channel but it’s gone) I’ve seen what happens when an older person’s feet are neglected and the problems that can arise. I’m not keen on terrible infections that could kill me or make me lose a foot so, I’m taking care of that now. My hope is to have them all done in one go, heal up, and move on with my life. That means a long time healing and not being able to do any running. Hell, no intense walking. I’ll stick to my bikes for now and just be careful about my food and do any other exercises I can safely perform.

I fucking forgot the damn orange again… I just… UGH! Damnit… But the rest of the day went fine. Me and the kid are both obsessed with the pickled red onions I’ve been making and those are awesome on a good sandwich. I think I’m going to go back to broccoli for a while and I did so some research on other vegetables that can be steamed quickly for some more variety. I like what I make but it can get repetitive.

Today’s Workout: Preparations

While I’m working the stationary bike for now, I feel the urge to get on that treadmill again. I may restart c25k, I’m not sure but I want more movement. Something that gets the heart pumping more than the desk peddler. I’ve been rethinking how to prep dinners and such to make sure I still have time to write, blog, and do needlework. That’s the one great thing about the desk bike; I can multitask.

This was one of those weeks where I bought food with the best of intentions then ended up forgetting about things. I still have a problem eating enough fruit (or any fruit, actually) and I bought some oranges but I keep forgetting to eat them. My kid will eat them but, somewhere between the thought “Don’t forget to grab an orange” and packing my lunch, I forget to grab the damn orange. At least lunch and dinner went to plan…

Today’s Workout: PMS or Aging?

When I went for my checkup not only was my blood pressure high but all my levels were all over the place. That’s not normal for me since even though I wasn’t as active, I was still eating well. I did some lazy research and PMS/Periods can affect such things but, my doctor still suggested I get a monitor and take readings daily for a month and send her the results. Luckily I found one that syncs to an app and FSA will reimburse me for it. My knee is feeling better so I do hope to get back to running soon.

I changed lunch up by having broccoli instead of bok choy and I had a craving for a chicken Caesar salad for dinner that always shocks me how many calories are in it. It’s delicious and filling but yikes. Actually hitting 1200 calories a day is shocking since I started the Saxenda. And my stomach felt overfull. I’ll have to take it easy on the heavy salads, I guess.

“Today’s” Workouts: Just a couple more days

I’m taking my time recovering from NYCC. It’s a LOT of walking and I just don’t think it’d be a good idea to rush back into running. Next week maybe but it’s gonna be busy so, I’m not sure.

After NYCC, I made a bunch of veggies and some steak and I’ve been picking at it since. The winter squash turned out pretty good! I don’t usually eat those but, I found it enjoyable to eat with just a bit of salt and pepper. I’ve been using my Itaki but soup/stew/chili season is upon us and I’m gonna need to think of a way to reheat that without the microwave. It’s so frustrating to think it’s heated through and hit that cold spot in the middle. It’s jarring and unappetizing, leading to more time in the microwave that turns the whole thing into lava. I’m sure I’ll find something to make this easier.

Now, I’m gonna take the weekend off from working out at all since I have a TON of house work and writing to do. And overtime to work. I’m sure that will be plenty of steps.

Today’s Workout: A Little Much

wp-17291227427055394450536277861737I decided to do the bike earlier today. I had an appointment with a patron that went very well (almost too well? I’m not used to good things happening) but I was still doing other work while biking. I can’t help but multitask. I have a problem. This is why my hands hurt all the time.

I thought I didn’t need breakfast when I got up but once I got to work, I felt peckish. I keep some of the Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Biscotti at my desk for just such occasions. For lunch, I had the Itaki and dinner was a half chicken from Butcher Box and the last of the roasted vegetables. I am not the biggest fan of Butcher Box’s pre-prepped options. The chicken tasted a little too spicy for me and I think I would have been happier with something I made myself. It was kinda… Oily? And I didn’t add any oil when I cooked it. The kid liked it but they love spicy things. To the point where I’ve had to deliberately not buy things like Takis for the sake of my plumbing.

Tomorrow is the first day of NYCC. My diet and activity will be chaotic for the duration, I can assure you. I don’t tend to eat at the con unless my kid is with me because I don’t enforce my eating habits on my kid and the food there is damn expensive. I don’t even ask my job to reimburse me; almost like a punishment for being dumb enough to get swindled. I’ll try to keep updated here but I make no promised. I am technically working. We’ll see.

Today’s Workout: Tuna

wp-17290311158653540806525316181876I was using the Wirk peddler while I did some work (really enjoying ordering some cool stuff for the library) so, you can totally tell where I paused to lean closer to the screen and wasn’t peddling as fast. Burned calories are burned calories. This and the walk absolutely put me in a caloric deficit for the day.

Again, Kind bar for breakfast. Lunch was a way to use up some of the peppers that came in my CSA box. I probably should to easy on the tuna for awhile since this was two cans. Don’t judge me about dinner. I like crispy sausage. As for the vegetables, CSA box again. My kid doesn’t like cauliflower and I don’t mind loading up on that and letting them have the broccoli and most of the potatoes. I did have some for myself. I did break 1,000 calories but this time, I do feel over full. Probably too much salt but I like to think it was unhealthy? I think I did pretty good.

Today’s Workou: Your turn, Sweatcoin

With NYCC this week, I am not running. I don’t run on convention weeks because I will spend multiple days in a row on my feet and I don’t wanna chance messing up said feet before I go. So, regular walking and stationary bike it is.

Now, I have whined a lot about how Google Fit makes my steps vanish but I rarely talk about the other apps I use. Up on the chopping block today is Sweatcoin and their “boost” feature.

It was from my last run. I managed to snag it before it calculated what my bonus will be. Usually, I average 3k steps for a 30-minute run but as you can see, there’s my step count, right?

Aaaaand, here’s my bonus. As you can see, there are slightly less than 2600 steps. I can understand adjusting for people who just shake their phones to get steps but come on. That’s just rediculous.

I’m still into the Kind bars for breakfast. I’m not gonna keep taking pics of them. That’s boring. For lunch, I brought my leftover steak, potatoes, and baked veggies and for dinner, I had a craving for tuna and pasta. I like it with olive oil and lemon juice like a salad. I’m off the Saxenda right now because I am NOT chancing the side effects kicking in while I’m in the middle of a convention center or on the train. Noooooo way. I did eat a little more than while on the medication but still around the 1200 mark. Not too terrible. I think it was a good day.
