Lenni Reviews: The Dangers of Fairy Compacts by Katey Hawthorne

I downloaded this book for free on All Romance Ebooks.

A fairy named Aeron has been hearing a voice in his head for most of his life, much to the disdain of his father. When a tear opens between the human world and the world of the fae, it leads Aeron to the source of the voice which was calling him; a young mortal named Tammas. Tammas was trying to summon ingredients for a potion and ended summoning Aeron instead. But now that Aeron is stuck in the mortal world, the pair try to find out why Aeron was hearing Tammas’ voice all these years and why this spell would summon and bind Aeron to Tammas.

I like the premise of this story: a young magic user summoning an entity by mistake and then they get all lovey dovey as they learn about each other. Pretty classic as far as these types of stories go but Aeron and Tammas are interesting characters with conflicts outside just their by chance meeting. Aeron is treated indifferently by his father; who prefers his twin sister, and Tammas is trying to find his footing as a magic user with an equally impressive legacy to live up to in his family line. You end up liking them despite the formulaic plot.

The sex scenes are ok; it’s kinda easy to skip over them. They’re graphic but not that erotic, if that makes any sense. But for me, you read enough of these and a lot of the time, your eyes just skip over these parts unless the scenes are written amazingly well.

Overall, I give this story a 4 out of 5 because I had fun reading it.

Lenni Reviews: “An Oral Fixation” by Piper Vaughn

I got this little short read for free on All Romance Ebooks.

Quinn has been in love with Cooper for-the-ever and for the first time in years, Cooper is finally single. On a road trip over Spring Break, Quinn is finally ready to make his move but finds unexpected results.

Yeah, the results are totally expected. This short little story is the classic “we’ve been in love secretly but keep missing each other” trope complete with a steamy and sappy ending. That doesn’t mean this story isn’t good; it is simply typical and ultimately forgettable. But, I gotta say, Vaughn gets to the point, makes it, then wraps it up in a neat little bow without wasting too much time. I’d give this short story a 3.5 out of 5 because while typical, it’s a fun read if you are into M/M romance but wanna read something quick.

This story does have a hot love scene so if you want a clean story, look elsewhere.

**Note: Yup, this is the same format that I use over at O&G. But I was not sent this book by a publisher, I just bought it. That’s why I’m reviewing it here instead.**

Happy St. Patrick’s day! 😀 Since I’m sadly sober, I figured I’d review a suitably themed story I’ve had on my Kindle for some time. This story was downloaded for free from All Romance Ebooks.

A short story taken from a larger series called Superpowered Love. I know fuck all about this series so I will be reviewing this story as a standalone.

As new parents; Kellan and Jamie Monday are chronically tired and in dire need of a night out. But, when their promised sitter ends up sick, they try to find a way to get some rest and have some fun in the face of teething twins.

This is a sweet and smutty slice of life about parents of twins who FINALLY get a moment to themselves. It can kinda stand alone; seeing as how the way the characters interact with each other establishes all the relationships pretty well. The sex scene is 90% of the book so if some M/M smexy times is what you want, that’s totally what you’ll get. But man, is it ever a flashback to when my kid was a baby. I felt exhausted on their behalf.

I’d give this story a 3.75 because everything s worked out a little too perfectly but it was really cute and it made me smile. Have a pint on me and enjoy this little story.

Cold and Gross Monday…

Sadly it’s snowing again but there’s plenty for me to feel loved and warm inside. I checked on my books on Amazon and I got two more 5 star reviews; one on Old Soldier and one on Djinn. I’m always nervous about checking for reviews on my books; waiting for that dreaded 1 star review but so far, the lowest rating I’ve ever gotten was 4 stars.

I love when I get feedback from my readers. Even though I can see sales, it’s nice to know the person took the time to tell others what they thought of my work. I am so grateful for it so a big thanks to you all! 😀

New Story Up!

I’ve had this one kicking around for awhile now and I’ve finally cleaned it up enough to sell! At least in my opinion, at any rate… But with no further ado, here is Djinn; an urban fantasy short story about a mysterious woman and her annoying genie, Todd.

And for the low price of only $0.99! Check it out!

New Story Now For Sale!

cover

Now available for Nook and for Kindle is Old Soldier; a short and sexy fantasy story I wrote for a submission call but didn’t finish it in time. But why waste it, right?

And if you’ve been on my site recently, you’ll notice I’ve started to post covers of stories yet to come! I am also working on getting all my books on the Kobo reader as well! Stay tuned for even more awesome stuff! 😀

Blessed Beltane and Yes! I LIIIIVVVVEE!

Holy crap, I have been so busy I really did just hunker down and work. In addition to regular library work, I’ve been pretty darn popular over at Otakus and Geeks. I have so many books to review, I can barely keep up! On top of those, I actually filled my kindle! I didn’t know you could a do that but yes, I have found to many free books that interest me, there’s so little space left, the kindle glitches out and can barely run sometimes.

This… Has done little to keep me from buying more though. XD

I’ve been making it a point to clear off the shorter stories and novellas to make room. It’s not easy with all the books to review but hey, it’s not like I don’t enjoy reading!

I have also posted another VERY short story on Amazon. In fact, it’s so short, I posted it for free at first, but Amazon won’t let me price it any lower than $0.99. It’s a quick little lesbian erotica I wrote that did not get accepted to an anthology. I figure I have it, its there, why waste it? But keep in mind, it’s smutty and very short. A cute little slice of life thing for grownups only. I am impressed with how much it’s sold but hey, when the words “erotica,” “lesbian,” and “free” are all in the same product description, people click pretty fast. Ah, the almighty power of porn. And I am not above taking advantage of that to pay the bills, people.

The story I’m working on now is a short fantasy story with slightly less smut and a heterosexual couple. This one I fiddled with too long and missed the deadline for the anthology I was writing it for. :p It’s a sweet story but longer so when I post it, it will be slightly more expensive. But I look forward to finishing it and expanding my finished works. Once all my short stories are finished, I will get back to the First Brood series. I promise. It is just really bothering me to have so many unfinished projects just sitting there when they could be finished so quickly.

I will try and update the blog more often. LootCrate and Birchbox updates will resume this month, I’ve been tapped for a possible geek girl themed podcast, I’ll be going to Book Expo, and I’m already applying for my professional pass to NYCC. And yes, I have still been keeping up with my workouts for the cosplay plans I have. They are epic. 😀 I am slowly building up a new shop for my needlework (hopefully will open this summer).

Things are really coming together! I can hardly believe the good fortune I’ve had so far but hey, I’ve worked my ass off for this shit! Look forward to seeing more! 😀

A big thank you to Melody over at Ragdoll!

Now that this story has been edited (and bless all your hearts for not pointing out the copious and sometimes hilarious typos in the posts) and has a cover, I’m seeing about posting it around to sell! 😀

As for what project I’ll finish next? Er… I have no idea. I’m just GOING. But look for Winter Boot in the coming days! As soon as I figure out this file conversion nonsense…

Writer Wednesday – Writing Update

Remember waaaaayyy back when I was doing Fiction Friday and posting Winter Boot? Remember when I kept meaning to finish it and getting distracted by various shiny objects? Well, no more delays! Winter Boot has a complete written draft now! 😀

Once I get it typed up and edited, it will be posted on Fiction Friday again. 🙂 When it’s complete, another short story will take it’s place. I’m not sure what the next short will be but I have had a horror story percolating in my brain for awhile. The other ones I have in progress are erotica submission calls I didn’t finish in time but I still have the cool story. Those are too smutty to put in the blog. They’ll go direct to sale when complete. ^__^

I know the year is still young but I’ve been doing amazing with my daily goals. So much so that I’ve increased my page goal from 4 to 5 pages daily. If I can keep this up? Expect my Amazon Author Page to be bursting with titles. 🙂
