Today’s Workout: I like this idea

wp-17307667601487206756977005068393

I like the idea of having body weight exercise days in-between running days. I do need to get back to running since I’m feeling so much better from NYCC (and it will help me disassociate tomorrow) I can resume running whatever days I can. I’m exhausted from all the overtime I’ve been doing as well as adding more to Patreon, and doing needlework… I’ve been pretty damn busy.

I had a the pumpkin biscotti for breakfast, my Itaki for lunch, and because I’m a petty bitch and my child won’t help me by doing dishes, I made myself a bacon grilled cheese that I did photograph but my phone decided I didn’t really need it. Of course, there’s plenty of already cooked food and other things they can eat. I’m not a monster, I’m just really fucking annoyed. I own a dishwasher. It’s not that fricking hard and I’m the type of parent to pay for chores. It’s an easy win that this teenager refuses to take and I end up with so much more work I don’t need. Oh, but I’m sure they’ll be begging me to earn some once Call of Duty drops some nonsense they want me to pay for.

“Today’s” Workouts: Just a couple more days

I’m taking my time recovering from NYCC. It’s a LOT of walking and I just don’t think it’d be a good idea to rush back into running. Next week maybe but it’s gonna be busy so, I’m not sure.

After NYCC, I made a bunch of veggies and some steak and I’ve been picking at it since. The winter squash turned out pretty good! I don’t usually eat those but, I found it enjoyable to eat with just a bit of salt and pepper. I’ve been using my Itaki but soup/stew/chili season is upon us and I’m gonna need to think of a way to reheat that without the microwave. It’s so frustrating to think it’s heated through and hit that cold spot in the middle. It’s jarring and unappetizing, leading to more time in the microwave that turns the whole thing into lava. I’m sure I’ll find something to make this easier.

Now, I’m gonna take the weekend off from working out at all since I have a TON of house work and writing to do. And overtime to work. I’m sure that will be plenty of steps.

Today’s Workout: A Little Much

wp-17291227427055394450536277861737I decided to do the bike earlier today. I had an appointment with a patron that went very well (almost too well? I’m not used to good things happening) but I was still doing other work while biking. I can’t help but multitask. I have a problem. This is why my hands hurt all the time.

I thought I didn’t need breakfast when I got up but once I got to work, I felt peckish. I keep some of the Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Biscotti at my desk for just such occasions. For lunch, I had the Itaki and dinner was a half chicken from Butcher Box and the last of the roasted vegetables. I am not the biggest fan of Butcher Box’s pre-prepped options. The chicken tasted a little too spicy for me and I think I would have been happier with something I made myself. It was kinda… Oily? And I didn’t add any oil when I cooked it. The kid liked it but they love spicy things. To the point where I’ve had to deliberately not buy things like Takis for the sake of my plumbing.

Tomorrow is the first day of NYCC. My diet and activity will be chaotic for the duration, I can assure you. I don’t tend to eat at the con unless my kid is with me because I don’t enforce my eating habits on my kid and the food there is damn expensive. I don’t even ask my job to reimburse me; almost like a punishment for being dumb enough to get swindled. I’ll try to keep updated here but I make no promised. I am technically working. We’ll see.

Today’s Workout: Tuna

wp-17290311158653540806525316181876I was using the Wirk peddler while I did some work (really enjoying ordering some cool stuff for the library) so, you can totally tell where I paused to lean closer to the screen and wasn’t peddling as fast. Burned calories are burned calories. This and the walk absolutely put me in a caloric deficit for the day.

Again, Kind bar for breakfast. Lunch was a way to use up some of the peppers that came in my CSA box. I probably should to easy on the tuna for awhile since this was two cans. Don’t judge me about dinner. I like crispy sausage. As for the vegetables, CSA box again. My kid doesn’t like cauliflower and I don’t mind loading up on that and letting them have the broccoli and most of the potatoes. I did have some for myself. I did break 1,000 calories but this time, I do feel over full. Probably too much salt but I like to think it was unhealthy? I think I did pretty good.

Today’s Workou: Your turn, Sweatcoin

With NYCC this week, I am not running. I don’t run on convention weeks because I will spend multiple days in a row on my feet and I don’t wanna chance messing up said feet before I go. So, regular walking and stationary bike it is.

Now, I have whined a lot about how Google Fit makes my steps vanish but I rarely talk about the other apps I use. Up on the chopping block today is Sweatcoin and their “boost” feature.

It was from my last run. I managed to snag it before it calculated what my bonus will be. Usually, I average 3k steps for a 30-minute run but as you can see, there’s my step count, right?

Aaaaand, here’s my bonus. As you can see, there are slightly less than 2600 steps. I can understand adjusting for people who just shake their phones to get steps but come on. That’s just rediculous.

I’m still into the Kind bars for breakfast. I’m not gonna keep taking pics of them. That’s boring. For lunch, I brought my leftover steak, potatoes, and baked veggies and for dinner, I had a craving for tuna and pasta. I like it with olive oil and lemon juice like a salad. I’m off the Saxenda right now because I am NOT chancing the side effects kicking in while I’m in the middle of a convention center or on the train. Noooooo way. I did eat a little more than while on the medication but still around the 1200 mark. Not too terrible. I think it was a good day.

Today’s Workout: Maaaaaaagic!

I’ll get back to that other series eventually but in the meantime, I started this one just so I can get a run in before work. I was nervous about this one. It’s week 5 day 3 of c25k which is just one long 20 minute run. I was hoping to get though it without any breaks and I did! It wasn’t too hard and the only thing that bugged me is not trusting myself to take a drink of water mid run without spilling it all over me and the treadmill. I just took my time, kept breathing, and made it through.

I had something important this afternoon at work that I was really nervous about so, I had more of a snack for lunch than an actual meal. I dunno if it went well. I’d like to block it outta my mind until I know either way. I’m out of steak for the time being (and soy sauce) so, chicken it is! The bok choy this week was meh; looked big but mostly stem and wilty leaves. I think I need to come up with another vegetable I can use for these meals instead of that or broccoli. I’ll have to see. There are plenty of Itaki recipes out there.

Today’s Workout: Iiinnn Spaaccee

wp-17279646771137663818977556890167

This mission has an Aliens feel with the synthetic humans and such. I like it! I’m a sucker for good scifi. As for the run itself, it was touch and go towards the end because my arm hurts (I’m getting some bad carpal tunnel… Really not fun) but my arm isn’t what I use to run. I just told myself to get over it. This will be my last workout of the week, other than some walking, since I have so many damn chores to do and editing to get done. I guess my biggest challenge will be finding the chance to actually rest my hand.

wp-17279878900171513958386234768397

As it was my late day, I had to prep lunch and dinner so, I made some steak and rice to go with the tray of roasted vegetables I’d made earlier in the week. I’m trying to have more variety in what I eat and lean into protein and vegetables. Basically whatever I get in my farm share box, I bake and put into my rotation. Even though my kid doesn’t like it, I do. I think it’s interesting to eat all these new things.

Today’s Workout: Awww, that’s it?

wp-1727821605062144896085283736934

I was enjoying this story! I’m kinda sad it’s over but I think it was great overall. Then again, I’m biased because I love this app in general.

As for the run itself, It went just fine. The only real pain I have in in my right hand and I think I’m getting carpal tunnel. It makes sense since I’m on a computer all day and all my side gigs involve either a computer, my Freewrite, regular writing, or needlework; all done with my right hand. I’ve dealt with tendonitis before so, I’ll be keeping my hand in a brace for awhile, I have topical and internal pain killers, and I’ll be taking as many breaks as I can. The last thing I want is surgery or to be in pain all the time. I’ll make sure to take good care of myself until this goes away. What sucks is I had so much needlework I wanted to do but my hands are in no shape to crochet or knit right now.

Today’s Workout: Small victories

wp-17277355827255356006819052631600

I’ve been complaining that the scale isn’t moving for awhile now but, when I got on the scale this morning, I noticed that my body fat percentage has gone from in the 40’s a few months ago to 34%. That’s so much better and closer to what Google says is recommended for a woman my age. I may not be skinny, but I’m healthier than I used to be. I still need to do more weight training. I don’t do it often enough; maybe twice a week as opposed to cardio that I do 4-5 times a week.

I don’t have pictures of food this time because I honestly didn’t feel like taking them. It’s all the same thing anyway so, what’s the point? Unless I do something impressive or you guys really wanna see them?

At any rate, this was a good run. I like this side mission. This app really does a good job taking the characters from the main story and putting them in the most random situations. I don’t pay for the extra Marvel parts of the app. If anyone does, tell me if it’s worth doing if you’re only a passive Marvel fan.

Today’s Workout: Long Day

wp-17274471658392251829490815713264

Even though I’m off today, I still got up to run before I started all my chores and errands. I have a long string of workdays ahead of me with some overtime so to make things easier on myself, I did as much cleaning and cooking as I could in advance. That way I can just reheat something healthy rather than end up ordering something to save time.

As for the workout itself, this was the start of week 4 of C25K. That means the workouts and intervals are getting longer. This run went just fine. In fact, I thought it was too easy by the end of it. My only issue is my period makes my muscles and joints hurt whether I’m working out or not. It’s not soreness I earned, it just exists in the background almost taunting me with my inevitable aging. This month isn’t as bad as some others and I think that’s because I didn’t stop. I stayed on my workout schedule even though I was overtired and kinda bitchy.

Also, I ended up removing Google Fit from my home screen to prevent myself from even accidentally opening it and having all my steps vanish. It’s still logging my workouts and running in the background but it doesn’t “adjust” unless I open it.
