Today’s Workout: Splitting

wp-1675105370231wp-1675122543944

I split my workout in two for today. I did the first one at work with my peddler and the second one at home on the big desk bike. the bike at home has the resistance turned way up so, it’s much harder than the little peddler. I actually break a sweat and I’m still able to write since I have the desk.

Not that my brain will let me write. Post COVID brain fog makes writing feel like I am trying to pull the words out of my head kicking and screaming. It really sucks because the ideas are there, the will is there, but I just can’t focus.

I had my usual lunch today but I didn’t get up in time to properly wash the bok choy so, snow peas filled in. It takes less time to cook than broccoli but I can add it sooner than bok choy; that gets way too soft. I like my veggies to still have some crunch, not be soggy. It was super filling so I didn’t eat much for dinner. Just some left overs.

All in all, this was a good day. I can’t say I’ll always be able to get in almost an hour of cardio like this but, I’ll do my best.

Today’s Workout: Sticker Shock

wp-1674236829730

I had a craving for the particular bagel with tuna from this one place by my job that has mayo-free lemon tuna that’s just delicious. And it gives me a chance to take a longer walk on my lunch break. But this time, instead of it being about $7-$8, it was $12. As much as I want to support small businesses, I literally can’t afford to spend $12 on a sandwich.

Since my birthday is coming up, I think I’m going to treat myself to a new bread maker (my current on is on it’s last legs) and make bagels at home when I want to have them. I have done it before and the dough setting on the machine saves my hands from getting sore and the ones I made tasted exactly like store bought. Maybe if I make the kind of money I need to be making with my books I can treat myself but in the meantime, I just can’t justify it.

Today’s Workouts: Moving around more

In addition to the desk bike, I had to pop over to the store to get the ingredients to make that steak sandwich again. The kid really liked it and avocados were on sale.

I thought that doing the bike and talking that walk would be too much but I was ok! And getting in those extra steps is always good. I just feel a little sore from the kettlebell yesterday and carrying the heavy grocery bag on my shoulder on the walk back. I saw some canned stuff on sale and the kid has been whining that I haven’t made meat sauce in awhile. So, I guess that’s how I’ll be spending my weekend.

I’m back!

wp-16732885099581378564870432283774

After a week, I’m testing negative and back at work. For me, COVID was like getting an annoying cold but with more of that feeling of my ears not being able to pop. Now, I notice I’m really sore. At first I thought it was from resting and laying around so much but apparently, body aches after COVID are a thing. I’m going to ease my way back into working out. Since I’m back at work, I’m just listening to my move reminder to get in some extra steps. At home, I’m just doing bodyweight exercises; no dumbbells or resistance bands. The last thing I want is to push myself too hard then end up getting sick again.

Today’s Workout: Crashing

wp-1667839640441

For some reason, Zombies Run kept crashing on me during my workout. After the third time, I just gave up and let Google Fit handle it. When I started, my knee was aching but after my warmup I was able to keep a relaxed pace for the rest of the run. The time passed pretty quickly, considering I didn’t have the mission to listen to. I’ll try again later in the week. Maybe they’ll roll out an update.

Since I had the day off, I decided on beef ribs for lunch. I know people usually make complicated meals with these but, I literally just cook them on my grill pan with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. I don’t eat them often since they’re expensive but I felt like I needed a treat.

The second meal was complicated. Of course the weather randomly decides to get super warm when I need to use the oven for hours… I haven’t made spaghetti and meatballs in a long time and I’ve been meaning to use up the ground beef and pork I have. The portion in that bowl was WAY too much for me and I’m gonna end up finishing it off for lunch tomorrow and I have so much sauce left that dinner is gonna be easy for the rest of the week. I will have to add something green to this. I have some baby broccoli floating around that I bet would go great with this.

Today’s Workout: The bike for a bit

wp-1667498034424

I just didn’t have time for the treadmill since I worked late so, the desk peddler was my cardio for the day. I biked while I was catching up on some reviews (which I will be posting over the next few days).

I also made some sable fish and brought the leftovers for lunch at work.

I know I shouldn’t be eating too much rice but the jasmine rice was the perfect companion to the baked baby broccoli. And this type of fish does have a bunch of omega 3’s to help with my bad cholesterol. I just seasoned it with some garlic powder and thyme. I got the baby broccoli from Misfits Market at a decent price and the meal was good enough for me to make it again. I have a few more filets of sable fish left from Butcher Box.

Next week, I’ll probably get back on the treadmill and I’m trying to save up for some adjustable weights to use. The kettlebell I have is only 8 pounds and I would like to lift a little heavier next year. I doubt you can get ripped with only an 8 pound weight.

Today’s Workout: Weight Checkin

wp-1667317581687

It’s been awhile since I posted my weight and I am now down to 204.2 with a total loss of 27.8 pounds. I am so, SO close to getting out of the 200 club! I also spent a little time going through some older clothes in my closet and I am very close to being able to wear them again. So, all this work is paying off! I know I’m not the most consistent with my workouts or completely virtuous with my food, but this is still working for me and I’m super excited to see how much more I lose in the coming months!

Today’s Workout: Hello carbs!

wp-1665596872558

I kinda took it easy on the desk peddler today as I could still feel some soreness from last weekend. For lunch I just had the same salad as last night but I had some fun with dinner.

I noticed the diced tomatoes were building up in the fridge so I cooked some tri color vegetable pasta, chopped up garlic and onion, sauteed them in olive oil and added the tomatoes. Simmer for a bit with some of the pasta water and top with some shredded Parmesan! You may feel like those onions aren’t cooked enough but I like my veggies crunchy. I kinda miss the garlic scrapes from Misfits Market but they haven’t had those in stock again.

It’s been awhile since I made pasta at home and it was super filling. I’m glad I split my old portion into two so I have lunch for tomorrow. It’s my late night so, I have to bring two meals. I plan to experiment a little… Cross your fingers I don’t make myself sick… Again.

Today’s Workout: This weekend is gonna be interesting…

I took a walk during my lunch break in normal shoes but I also tested out the shoes I’m going to wear with my cosplay this weekend and they’re as comfortable to walk in as one would expect since they’re heels. I anticipated this and I have foot pads and I plan to bring sneakers to wear for the lions share of the walking. I apparently love torture since I walk from Penn to Javitz.

wp-16650898715311497534200952832660

Since I didn’t eat much of anything for lunch (I just ate an apple) I went all out for dinner. There’s some plain ramen noodles under those veggies and ground beef. I might have over done it with the chili crisp but I enjoyed eating this and the kid liked it (with enoki mushrooms, go figure). I like the combination of snow peas and bok choy. It’s crunchy goodness!

Tomorrow is NYCC day one. I won’t be thinking about my diet much since all that walking makes me not want to eat much. I just feel tired and have sore feet.

Today’s Workout: Finger Lickn’ Good

wp-1664239035405

Since I was off today, I was doing chores and didn’t do any cardio. I decided to keep up with the kettlebell workouts to build my muscles and strength. It’s only an 8 pound kettlebell but with all the reps I do, I can feel the pain.

As is my habit, I like to have a major cooking day at the beginning of the week if I have the day off. Today, I baked a whole chicken with sweet potatoes and onions. I brined the chicken overnight in saltwater and lemon pepper with some sage, thyme, and garlic powder. I dried the skin off, seasoned it inside and out with kosher salt and pepper, then put a slab of butter inside the bird while it cooked. I also put butter on the potatoes and everything turned out juicy and delicious. I portioned out some for lunches tomorrow (one for me, one for the kid) and there was still some left after I stripped the meat from the bones.

The temperatures are dropping and this was the perfect comfort dinner. It’s gonna need to cool off more before I have a pot simmering for hours making broth but this was just right. And it has plenty of protein and vitamins I’m lacking from my last blood tests. While this is more work than just nibbling on a gummy vitamin, this tasted much better.
