First Workout of the Week: I fucked up.

wp-1625613505525.png

Over the holiday weekend, a rainstorm sent some lovely flooding into my basement. While I was cleaning up from that, I also gathered up more junk to throw out and ended up hauling up three full, heavy, 39 gallon garbage bags of crap out of the basement and to the curb. Emotionally, I feel accomplished and glad that trash is out. My back however, wants screaming, bloody, violent revenge for what I have inflicted upon it.

That’s a super dramatic way to just say my lower back hurts and running is not in the cards right now. The stationary bike desk I have has a nifty back for me to lean on. Even so, about 30 minutes was more than enough before I needed to stop.

I’m okay with that because I finally hit 219.6 pounds. I’ve lost 12 pounds so far! 20 more and I’m out of the 200 club! I am super excited about that. I keep thinking of all the super cute clothes I have that I’ll finally be able to wear again!

Oh, and being healthy. That too.

Today’s workout: Biking and Writing

Oooh, look at that swanky minimalism in that graphic. Nice, Google Fit.

Anyways, I picked the stationary bike because I’m almost done with a rough draft of the next story I want to publish. My sales were meh for this month but ‘meh’ is a step up from none so I’ll take it.

I keep the resistance pretty high on this bike so I felt it in my thighs even after just 25 minutes. It is going to be cooling off so, I hope to get back to running next week and continue C25k. I won’t be able to write on the treadmill but I do need to learn that it’s ok to do one thing at a time.

Second workout of the week: Kettlebell

I’m gonna have to adjust these screenshots. That size is just ridiculous.

Also, I will stop complaining about the heat now; even though it was the main factor in deciding to do a short weight workout instead of a longer walk/run. I just don’t want to go too many days in a row without doing something towards my overall health. Even if it’s just 150-ish calories. Every little bit helps and I’m still sticking to my diet and taking Saxenda so it’s not like I’m gaining all my weight back. And I actually came to enjoy running so, I want to get back to it.

First workout of the week: Horrible heatwave

No lie, I’ve been keeping things really light. Power walking with 2 fans on and plenty of water to make sure I don’t fall down. I did notice my actual weight hasn’t been moving and I’m sure that can be because I’m not moving around as much but, I’m not going to push until I pass out. That’s just not happening.

I don’t plan on just using the entire summer as an excuse not to do harder workouts, I just want to make sure I can stay consistent and also be healthy. The last thing I need is to end up needing treatment for heat exhaustion so I can’t workout at all.

Today’s Workout: Kettlebell!

I don’t usually do longer cross-training workouts so this was a challenge and I know this is gonna hurt tomorrow. I do want to build some muscle to fill in where I know I will have sagging skin if I hit my goal weight. It’s probably a pipe dream but I thought building muscle would be better than expensive skin removal surgery. I’m no expert so I’m sure an expert will come along and tell me that’s stupid.

Also, I can do the kettlebell in my nice air conditioned room.

Ok, I’ll stop complaining about the heat and just do what I need to do.

Second workout of the week: Still hot.

Whenever summer rolls around, I think about getting an extra air conditioner for the room I use as my ‘gym’ but then I see the electric bill and change my mind.

You also may have noticed I just blew off last week. I don’t know if I’m going to run at all this week, honestly. I’m more in a walking or cycling type mood; especially since I’m waaaaayyy behind on my projects. I just can’t run and do something else. I can cycle or walk while writing or knitting or whatever. COVID decimated my finances so I have to make money any way I can.

First workout of the week: It’s too damn hot.

wp-1624472568428.jpg

Not an impressive feat but man, I do NOT do well in the heat. So, this workout is just a brisk walk. It may not mean much for my running progress but honestly, I’m firmly in the camp of a walk instead of a run is better than just sitting around.

And I did manage to slide down on the scale 0.8 pounds. That’s 11.4 in total! I’ve also had to adjust how I shop for food because the Saxenda reduces my appetite so much. I may have to pay for the meds but my grocery bill is lower. I had to learn this the hard way unfortunately, since some food went bad before I could get to it.

Week 6 Day 3: Part Deux The Second One.

If you get the references in the title, you’re old like me.

As you can tell by the pace time, I was slower this time. I had to bump the speed down because every woman’s favorite time of the month is approaching and my joints hurt more than normal. I’d rather complete the run at a slower pace than skip it entirely; especially since I’m not running to compete with anyone but myself. I haven’t had the cash for any virtual races for awhile and I was thinking that I wouldn’t try to beat my own speed records (I believe my record for one mile is 14:03??) until I’m out of the 200 club for good. It makes sense to me that I’d be able to run faster if I’m lighter.

But we can sprint across that bridge if I come to it. Like I said before, I am tentatively optimistic about my progress so far. I’m not planning ahead too far.

Week 6 day 3… Because I wasn’t paying attention.

I clicked on the wrong day. Big brain energy, there; let me tell you. But, I can even it out by running the day over on Friday.

It wasn’t easy to do that 20-minute sprint (especially since I was mentally prepared for breaks that didn’t exist) and it was rough going towards the end. I made it through only feeling like I was gonna die a little bit. I also downloaded a stretching app that will incessantly remind me to stretch daily to combat the soreness I feel. I can’t imagine what people are thinking when they see me squirming in my seat with a pained look on my face like I have ants in my clothes or something.

First workout of the week.

Since I didn’t complete my week, I restarted week 6 of c25k. I am not loving the heat (there’s no air conditioner in the room where my treadmill is) but I made it through.

Now that I’m 6 weeks in, I’m feeling all the familiar aches in my thighs and glutes. My calves ache too, but not nearly as much. I keep going back and forth about working out on the weekends or taking a break but, I know the proper answer is to work out every day. I get a serious case of the dunwannas on weekends; especially if I have to work.

Thankfully, this bad habit hasn’t had an adverse effect on my progress. I’m still trending down in my weight and if this keeps up, I’ll be under 220 before the end of the month! Maybe, if I play my cards right, under 200! But I don’t wanna set myself up for failure by making promises. Just keeping positive.
