Today’s Workout: Cardio Day 1 and Sunday Dinner

wp-1649691176667

I did some biking while I went through the books on my desk. I have these random piles of things and it was about time I made sure I even need them there. Most of them are withdrawn books I want to read before either selling or disposing of them.

Meanwhile, I had a TON of leftover rice floating around so I used it to make some beef fried rice.

Yeah, it looks messy but I’m not out here trying to be a food blogger. I’m just trying to get my money’s worth out of my food and getting creative with eating more vegetables. Also, I used a small bowl and it was more than enough to fill me up. My only issue was with adding the scrambled egg. Instead of adding chunks of egg, it just got absorbed by everything else and created an interesting creamy sensation. And I made sure everything was cooked through so there’s no salmonella in my future. I had fun making it and it was satisfying. I’d totally make this a regular meal.

Today’s Workout: Dreary Day…

wp-1649351626874

Today was an ideal day to workout at my desk. Its rainy and windy, just the type of day where you don’t want to do anything but cuddle up with a warm drink and a blanket. But, I made sure to get in my third cardio day for the week.

Unfortunately, my scale hasn’t moved much. I’m still fluctuating between 210 and 208 and I’d hoped to be under 200 by now. It’s traditional to want to achieve weight loss goals by the summer and it’s looking like I won’t make it. I know it’s not a be all end all goal, but I’m still disappointed. But, I’m not giving up. I got my new refill of Saxenda and plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits to keep on track, even with the occasional treat. This weekend, I’ll start my bodyweight workouts to build some muscle.

I’m still struggling with my salt intake. I’m limiting it but I still love that salty taste. I’m considering Flavor God since they have some low sodium options. I’ll update if I get my hands on some.

Today’s Workout: Me and My Planner

wp-1649258942026

More under desk bike while I write out what I need to do for the day. Like posting my workouts, it helps me stay accountable and keep track of things that need to be updated. I use these 90x planners (not sponsored). They’re expensive so I wait till they’re having a sale to buy them. Since I’m doing so many other things aside for my main job, this keeps me from forgetting things. Sometimes…

This was a longer one since I’m eating instant noodles for lunch and that’s packed with sodium and calories. I just didn’t get up in time to prep something healthier; which I honestly should have done the night before but I didn’t. I’ll do better for the rest of the week.

Today’s Workout: Cardio and What I Cooked Yesterday.

wp-1649093556472

I did a quick session on the under desk bike while going through some library journals and having a mild heart attack and the cost of the vegetables I regularly eat. I really need to just grow things at home.

I doubt I’ll be able to grow broccoli but I love to eat it so I’ll have to deal with the cost. I didn’t have any bok choy so I used broccoli and steamed pork tenderloin to make ramen. That first bowl is for my teenager; who I have caught drinking hot sauce from the bottle, hence the pile of chili crisp. I honestly wonder how they taste anything anymore… I sautéed the broccoli in just sesame oil with just a dash of MSG since the ramen I used has plenty of flavor. I think it turned out pretty good and was super filling. Next time, I will have to put some scallions on top.

Today’s Workout: Cardio and File Updates

I neglected to add .mobi files to my Smashwords library so while I went and did that, I used the under desk bike so I wasn’t totally stationary. I didn’t do it in the beginning because I thought that would mean having to publish on Amazon but, that’s not the case. If people shop there, I’d like them to have the file option available. They’re also on the shop page of this blog, if you’d like to support me directly.

And yes, I took breaks to rest my eyes.

It was more intense than I realized. I went to get up and my thighs were shaking. But that’s good! Anything’s better than being motionless.

Today’s Workout: Cardio Day 2

wp-1648652068455

I took a break yesterday to work on a short story that I seriously should have finished by now. I don’t know why I’m having such trouble with it but it’s a SLOG to get the words on the page. There are times where writing is like a wild ride and there are times where writing is WORK. And this story is being so stubborn.

In addition, after my trip to the eye doctor, I have to stop and take more breaks because of blocked oil glands. The doctor asked me “How many books do you read?” and after laughing, I told him my side gig along side being a librarian who’s on screens all day, I write and review books; meaning more screens. I use a warm compress he gave me twice a day at least and it’s both comforting and unnerving being medically forced to take a 10 minute break a couple times a day. But, I need my eyes so, I gotta take care of them.

Today’s Workout: I haven’t stopped

I did stick to my three cardio days last week but I got lazy with posting. And if it’s not on the internet, it didn’t happen, right? Joking aside, my workouts are always in my MyFitnessPal and I am brutally honest about what I eat on there. My username is lightinash if you want to add me.

This time, I was working out how to set up a mailing list for writing updates. I’m futzing around with MailChimp since I signed up for a promo for my First Brood series. Once I’m confirmed, I’ll post about it here. Those 30 minutes flew by while messing with the settings and trying to link MailChimp to BookFunnel (which I have also signed up for). Just tinkering with it made me forget I was peddling.

Once the promo is live and my mailing list is set up, I’ll post about it here. I’ve never done a mailing list before so this should be interesting.

Today’s Workout: Training Complete

This long three day training is finally done! And my coworker loved that blanket, so I’m feeling pretty darn accomplished this week.

I have been writing more and I have the cover for Dahlia 3 up for patrons on my Patreon if you’d like to support me there.

Next week will probably be more of the same; desk bike and multitasking. It’s so easy for 40 minutes to just fly by and I get progress on my side hustles. It’s a win-win.

Yeah, this is a short one. Not much to say; did workout, it was good, feeling proud of my successes!

Today’s Workout: Desk Cardio and Crochet

I know I’ve been pressing the cardio and that’s because I’m able to multitask. I have all these trainings I have to do, writing I need to get done, and needlework to do, I can’t spare the time to do just one thing. I have to get my work out there as much as I can because honestly, much like millions of others, my salary isn’t keeping up with the rising costs of everything. It’s even at the point where if I got a second library job, the fuel costs to get there negate any net profit I would make. So, selling my side work is gonna have to be it.

But the plus side is I made this!

One of my coworkers is going on maternity leave soon so, I made her a blanket as a gift. And I got some of the yarn stash used! Only to get a $50 gift card for my birthday and buy more yarn but hey, I still have my online store. I can put more things there to sell. I dunno about more blankets (since they take a long time to make) but Ill be adding more stuff there soon.

Also, I’m still writing. And posting reviews. I have a stack of reviews to post and plenty of books and graphic novels to review. I’m gonna try and get through these rough times.

Today’s Workout: Breaking the budget…

wp-1645040309220

I had a webinar about a bunch of awesome graphic novels that will be published in the next few months so, while I was hurriedly ordering them for my collection, I did some quick under desk biking.

I think I screwed up my collection development budget…

Anyway! This was a quick way to get in some cardio in a profession where we spend most of our time sitting in a chair. If I don’t go somewhere on my lunch break and/or run after work for 30 minutes or more, I struggle to hit 3,000 steps in a day. Having the under desk peddler to do some quick low-impact cardio to pump my heart rate up and move my legs is better than not moving at all.

#notsponsored #notanad

Granted, this is probably not the high intensity calorie burn that is necessary for some more impressive weight loss, but moving a little is better than not moving at all.

In terms of food, I think I did OK today. I’m on MyFitnessPal if you wanna see my caloric intake. I am brutally honest on there. If you wanna follow me there, my username is lightinash. I’m not shy. Feel free to give me a follow! Leave a comment when I eat popcorn for dinner! Go for it. Just don’t be a fatphobic jackass, and we’re good.
